We had a picnic inside today

This morning Buds started to decorate the birthday cards for our friends who have birthdays next month. Also on the art table was some clay so that we could make some fruit and vegetables for our picnic baskets. First we made tomatoes and Buds had to roll the clay into a round ball. It took some practice but we got the hang of it. We then stuck some green clay on the top to finish off our tomatoes. After that we rolled long cylinder shapes and bent them to make bananas. We were so happy with how they turned out. Lastly we made a long cucumber each taking turns to roll it and then one by one we cut a slice, flattened it and with the teachers help we made some seed indents in it. These too, turned out great.

In circle time we practiced our Halloween songs. We have a Jack ‘o lantern song, a dress up song and a witch song so we will pick the favorites for our Halloween party. We also talked about what colors we can see at Halloween. We decided orange and black are the main colors so we made a decoration for the wall. Buds took turns holding orange and black long string and then one Bud sat down while the other Bud stepped over the string to twist the strings together. Suddenly Buds started crawling under the string so we started doing an under and over game. Buds were probably inspired by Sports Day.

It had been raining and looked like it would rain again so we decided to have a picnic inside for snack. But while we were eating we saw the sun come out so decided to go for a walk. We went to the fish pond and saw some big fish and some small fish. Buds thought the big fish was mummy and the small fish were babies so then they started looking for daddy fish. (We forgot the camera, next time!).

When we came back we painted our picnic mat a little bit more. We really had to stretch to reach some parts of the mat. Again Buds ended up painting their hands with the paint brushes or the rollers and then painting the cardboard with their hands and the paint brushes.

Before lunch Buds had a choice between dancing to some favorite songs or doing our song box. “Song box” shouted a few Buds so we put some songs on the floor and everyone took a turn to choose one.
