A faboulous day with an extra activity thrown in - Teru Teru bouzu

10 October – Daily Journal

??????????We made some more beautiful orange paintings today to stick on the wall. As our color of the month is orange, it is good reinforcement for Buds to have lots of orange around. First there was just yellow paint on the table and after we added the red paint, Buds took turns to mix it and it changed to orange before ??????????our eyes. Then the fun began and there ended up being as much paint on their paper as there was on their hands and the table! It’s hard to imagine that some Buds didn’t like any paint or glue to get on their hands at the beginning of the year. Now they are using their hands as tools to paint and it’s a great sensory experience too.

??????????In circle time Sayaka did a fun game with Buds where everyone held the picnic blanket and we shook it fast and slow, up and down. It was good practice for parachute play on Sports Day. We then put the picnic blanket down and put all the teddy bears, bunnies and such on it. We asked Buds to find the biggest bear and which they did and then the next biggest until we got to the smallest bears. We discovered some of our bears are big and ??????????some are small. The older Buds could line up the bears in the correct order and the younger Buds just enjoyed lining their bear up and seeing the bears all in a row.

Again we had fun carrying our soft toys to the park and having a picnic with them. While we were setting ??????????up the picnic mat we sang ‘Teddy bear, teddy bear, turn around, teddy bear, teddy bear, touch the ground, teddy bear, teddy bear, jump up high and teddy bear, teddy touch the sky. Some Buds wanted to hold their soft toy the whole time but it was tricky to go up the blue slide’s steps while carrying them so we put them on the picnic mat for a rest.

Today we made some ‘Teru teru bouzu’, a Japanese figure that we hang up to wish for good weather. We?????????? made it by crunching up pieces of newspaper and covering it with tissue. Some Buds could scrunch the paper by themselves and of course some needed a little help. Some Buds helped us to draw the eyes, mouth and nose and then we hang it on the door. We hope ??????????it works for Monday. (We expect some rain but hopefully not a full strength typhoon).

Since we were at the table already we decided to do our song box around the table. It was fun for a change and everyone chose a song. Some songs Buds know really well are others it’s more the teachers singing and the children smiling and clapping or doing the actions.??????????

??????????Have a great weekend,   Sharee and Sayaka
