Spring Flowers!
Despite the cold weather and rain outside we kept our spirits up with colorful spring activities inside. On the first table we had brown play dough which symbolised the soil and colorful flower shape connecting toys. A used the flower shapes to make patterned imprints in the play dough. L saw this and also pushed the pieces in the play dough to make patterns. R carefully stacked all the flowers up to make a tower of flowers. T liked pulling the play dough apart to make lots of small pieces.
On the second table we worked on our sakura craft. We used bubble wrap stampers with pink and purple paint mixed with shaving cream to give it texture. K was interested to try it and came over to stamp lots of paint. S and S quickly joined to help with stamping lots of sakura patterns.
On the sensory table we had some artificial grass, blue shredded paper, little balls filled with all types of insects and our buildable flower garden. E and N loved joining the flowers and stems together and they both built a tower of flowers. L picked up a flower and pointed to the flower on her sweater and said “flower”. K picked up the blue shredded paper, sprinkled it down and said “rain, rain”. L was more interested in the insects trapped in the plastic balls and said “open please”. I was so excited to see all the different types of insects and said “spider” as he held it up.
During circle time Tamara spoke about how a seed planted in the soil together with rain and sunshine can grow into a flower. We all took turns to build our buds flower garden together. Then we read the book “Little Butterfly” where we saw a little caterpillar eat lots of leaves, build a cocoon and become a beautiful butterfly. We all pretended to be butterflies and danced around the room to the song “Fly fly the butterfly”. We also read the beautiful book “Pop up Seasons” by Anna Milbourne. We saw how nature changes throughout the seasons, in spring time baby animals are born and meadows are full of flowers buzzing with insects.
After snack time we continued with activities, we colored on construction paper with crayons, used colorful transparent blocks, read books and played with cars.
H enjoyed reading lots of books together with his teachers. Y built a colorful tower
with blocks.
After a busy day full of fun we were ready for our lunch and a nap!
Love, Buds
