Happy Grandparents' Day! (Keiro-No-Hi)
Monday, September 16th - Happy Grandparents’ Day! (Keiro-no-Hi)
Welcome back! We hope everyone enjoyed a nice weekend together and are ready to jump back in!
Today is a very special day because this day, (Keiro-No-Hi) or Grandparents’ Day is what we observed for our circle time subject! YAY! Grandparents are very magical people that we should cherish and build memories with, and what better way than by giving them a special gift which we created in class! Be on the lookout for special hand crafted cards that will be going home this week per attendance schedules.
On the front table this morning, by popular request, we played with our amazingly GREEN play doh! I rushed over and showed great fine motor control to roll out a big ball with Liezel! Pretty soon, S and L came by to try it too! We have some great sculptures in buds class! Nice work!
In the free play area, we played with colored blocks and flower connectors, which Brandon used at circle time for a counting exercise. R really enjoyed picking up and trying to snap the pieces together. They are a fun fine motor challenge! I made a yellow bridge tower and showed warm kindness by sharing blocks with his friends.
Pretty soon, it was time to clean up and gather for our morning circle! The teachers were so impressed with how L and S came over to sit down on a circle without being called! They were excited to join us and participate! What really took us all by surprise was how eager R was to tap her legs and clap her hands along to the morning song! When we shared how we felt today, I used a clear voice saying “I am happy!”. Great job I! Your friends will surely be inspired by your big brave voice!
Once we finished, we played a counting game with the teachers using colorful blocks! We said the names of each color and I also used his big clear voice to call out “BLUE!” when the teachers asked him what color it was! Wow! We then counted them all up to five! One, two, three, four, five! We also used our fingers when we counted along. E was mesmerized by each and mimicked counting by pointing her finger following Brandon as we all counted along together. E seems interested in counting too!
In observance of “Grandparents’s Day”, We read the stories “In Grandma’s Arms” and “Grandpa and Me” These special stories showcased the fun experiences and bring to life why grandparents are such amazing people for us to share love and build memories with! To return that love, we are so excited to give them their wonderful cards! What a wonderful keepsake!
By the way, what is your favorite memory with your grandparents?
Today we also practiced one of the sports day station games! It was called "kaki no ki" or the persimmon tree. To play th egame, we are supposed to collect balls and quickly placed them into the holes surrounding a big tree in the free play area! Y showed amazing coordination by carrying as many balls that his arms would hold! He loved the color BLUE!
Thank you for today and have a nice evening everyone!
Love, Buds.
