The Great Misson
Happy Friday everyone! We had another great week of summer school! To close out “Cracking The Code”, we did a grand mission of all the puzzles we worked on this week! Before we started our mission we had a choice to eat our snacks first thing in the morning if we wanted. We quickly reviewed what we need to do when there is an earthquake and did our monthly drill. We left for the park early before it got too hot and had a great time playing with our friends on the slide! After a morning of running around, we got very sweaty so we went back to school, changed into our swimwear and cooled down in the pool!
When we came back to Petals Class Sayaka read us a story while Nimo got the classroom ready for our great mission! Sayaka read, “My Little Red Fire Truck” by Stephen T. Johnson.
E: Firetruck helping the monkeys!
L: The siren for emergency! Neeenaaaa!!!
It was a very cool, interactive book about a fire truck and all the gadgets it carries. We thanked Sayaka for the lovely story time, and then we gathered into a circle for a little music time!
For today’s activity, we did a huge mission that had something from everything we have been working on this week. In the first stage, we sat down on the table and did the Secret Number code with the Red Glasses. After we identified the numbers hiding in the red ink, we looked for the number magnets to unlock the first code.
L: I see.. 3… 9… and 7!
The second table had shapes and we had to complete the pattern.
N: Triangle here!
Now with the two codes unlocked we were off to the last code. On the floor was a mysterious box with letters and pictures of animals. We weren’t sure what the box was and what the pictures were for. On the top of the box we saw a few pictures of animals and blank lines. Behind us we noticed some animal toys.
K: Animals, letters!
Our friends noticed there were some letters stuck on the animals. We then figured out what we needed to do! We matched the picture of the animal with the letter the animal toy had.
D: Letter 7! L! Draw here!
We filled in the blanks with the letters and it spelt, P E T A L S.
Everyone: Petals!!!
The box started to move and the lid magically opened! Inside was our prize, a placemat with our friends from this year’s summer school!
Thank you all for another fabulous week of summer school! We hope you all have a wonderful weekend and we will see you all again on Monday!
Love,
Petals
