Rice cup relay!
Hello, everyone! Today we started our busy day with sorting food groups and grains sensory activity to reinforce our past lessons. We also finished our Mother’s Day banner!
R: bread (grains)
Y: Vegetable, Fruits, Meat and Protein, Grains ( read the words on the board)
S: vegetable
For our dance class, we welcomed Marina to our class. She led our beautiful dance routine for our moms and some of Petals' friends asked if we could dance Chuchuwa. We also rehearsed for our special song.
R: I want Chuchuwa
M: Can I put this on?
L: Can I help? ( He asked Evita if he could help set up the chairs)
E: Is mommy coming today?
T: Mommy coming today.
For circle time, Evita revisited yesterday’s lesson: grains! She asked the class to think of food that belongs to the food group; grains.
M: Grains. No! Dairy!
L: pasta
M: biscuit
E: Candy and chocolate
Then to make our learning more fun, she asked the class to play a relay game. Before starting the game, Evita asked the class if they would feel bad if they didn’t win. Petals friends agreed that they don’t have to feel bad and just try again. Then she explained how the game works and divided the class into two teams. The first one in the line needs to scoop the right amount of rice that Evita calls out and pour the rice into the next Petals friend’s cup until they reach the end of the line. Team 2 won with a 1 point lead and Team 1 would try to win next time.
R: Who was faster?
L: E!
E: Team 1- 3 ,Team 2-4
E: I want to do it again!
T: again!
R: I’m hungry
E: Team 2 wins!
R: We won!
After eating our snacks, Evita read S’s favorite book, I’m a Firefighter. This book introduced the class about firefighters! We also discussed the sounds of fire trucks, police cars, and ambulances.
L: I don’t have hands!
R: I only saw the tail ( referring to the cat in the park)
M: Scared of the fire ( when asked why the cat needs to go outside)
R: Looks like bubbles
E: Dad is making a barbecue.
In preparation for the upcoming Mother’s Day celebration this Friday, Petals friends together with their teachers practiced a game that we will play with our moms. The class was filled with excitement as they waited for their turn to play.
L: Can I do it again?
R: Can I try one more time?
R: 1,2,3,4,5, six vegetables!
M: 1,2,3,4,5. I only have 5.
Thank you for today! See you all tomorrow.
Love,
Petals
