Green Juice, Orange Juice

Good morning, everyone! It was a cold rainy day today. We stayed inside and had so much fun! We started our day with free play time. We had a 3D magnetic puzzles on the activity table. At the art table, we had a colorful painting activity. On our play doh table, we had toothpicks for our clay tower building activity. In the sensory tub, we had a magnetic alphabets and magnet sticks. At the play area we enjoyed playing with the blocks. It was a very nice free morning time.
After we cleaned up, we started our circle time. We sang our morning greeting song and then Sayaka asked us to count the number of children and teachers. M and A volunteered to do it for us. Sayaka started out the day with the book, THE MOST MAGNIFICENT THING by Ashley Stripes. It was an interesting book about a little girl who enjoys building and creating things. She was eager to make something called, “the magnificent thing”. She tried her best to make it as she experimented with many different things in many different ways, but she had a hard time getting it to work… She got very frustrated, upset, and sad, so she stopped making it. End of the story, she decided to try again and she was able to make the magnificent scooter. It was a great story to motivate us to discover something new!
After we had story time, we reviewed what we learned with Evita. R mentioned that we had magnetic materials. Minato remembered the activity of making a bridge for the bear. Then Sayaka showed her toy friend. The bear was hiding in her hoodie. “Boo!” She took her friend out and it was a small polar bear. Sayaka started explaining that her friend Bear wanted to have juice. She showed us the colored water which were green and orange. “My friend really wants to have green and orange juice, but I don’t have it for her…” Then she showed us blue, yellow, and red water. Sayaka asked us if we could mix the three colors to make green and orange. Okay! We are great scientists, we can do that! We were divided into three groups and we started doing color experiments. To make green, we mixed yellow and blue. To orange, we mixed yellow and red. Lastly, we mixed all together and it turned to….black! It was very fun!
After that we had snack time. Then we had another story time to finish the book we stopped midway to go to the park. Then we had music and movement time. We practiced The Ohana Song for Hanami day. While we were singing and dancing, “Walking in the Jungle” Nimo asked us if we would like to make the animal sounds and we would have our friends guess what it was!
R: Roarrrrr.
E: Tiger?
S: Lion?
R: Yes!
A: Made the sound of an elephant.
Petals: An elephant!
M: Howling of a wolf.
E: Oh, wolf!
Y: Woof woof
S: Dog?
L: Cheetah. *fast running sound
T: Made the sound of a frog.
Petals: Frog!
S: *She made a grunting sound.
L: Crocodile?
R: Dinosaur?
S: It's a pig!
S: Whaaaa!
R: Lion?
B: Tiger?
S: Nodded his head.
After that we did a color song game and we enjoyed it a lot.
It was a very nice indoor day. We hope we could go to the park tomorrow. Thank you very much for today. See you all tomorrow.
Love,
Petals
