Argentina Day!
Buenos Dias! We welcomed S (R’s mom) to Petals class for our special Argentina Day! We sat down together in front of the world map and had S show us where on the world map Argentina is. She pointed way at the bottom of South America and told us that it can be very cold at the bottom and very hot at the top! She also told us Argentina was the winner for the 2022 World Cup! Sofia had a lot of fun activities ready for us! We first started by learning about the flag of Argentina. S asked us what colors we can see in the sky. Our friends were very good and they answered, “Blue, white, and Yellow!”. Then S showed us the actual Argentina flag and we were right! Next, she gave us blue, white, and yellow play doh and paper plates with lines on them. We first used the blue play doh and stuck it on the top and bottom of the lines. We use our little fingers to push the play doh on to paper plate. Then we used white play doh for the middle. S taught us a cool trick with the yellow play doh. With a small chunk of play doh we roll it around in our hand to make a ball, then we squash the ball to make a circle! We put the circle in the middle of the plate and we made our very own Argentina Flag!
Our next activity was a tasty one! S brought a jar of Dulce de Leche (Milk Caramel Spread) and she gave each of us a scoop of it to try! It was nice and sweet, we all shouted, “YUMMY!”. After our sweet treat, we practiced counting to five in Spanish. Uno, dos, tres, quatro, cinco! We finished up our exciting Argentina day with a soccer game! We had a goal and Nimo was the goalie, our job was to kick the ball into the goal before the goalie stopped the ball! We all kicked with all our might and made wonderful shots into the goal! If we scored a goal S gave us a Argentina Wristband as a prize! We took a group photo and said, “Gracias!” which is thank you in Spanish!
After we ate our snacks we had some music time! We sang and danced, “Wheels on the Bus” and “Shake Your Sillies Out”. We then had a short gym class and practiced hanging on the bar again! We all determined to beat our previous record! We also tried a new way of hanging, hanging from our legs! It was a little scary hanging upside down, but we trusted our teachers and let our hands go. It felt amazing seeing everything upside down! We finished gym class playing the sumo game and we also got a prize if we won! We got a pack of tasty biscuits to take home!
We finished up our fabulous Friday playing at the park!
Thank you all for another wonderful week! Hope you all have a great weekend and we will see you again on Monday!
Love,
Petals
