We Are Different

Happy Wednesday! Let’s see what’s going on in Flowers class today!

MORNING ACTIVITIES

Some of us continued working on our dad’s day gifts, while others began creating the first stage of our restaurants. Work began for our sandwich shop by making lettuce, tomatoes, bread, and cheese out of construction paper to be used as ingredients. Our creativity and imagination are running at full steam as we embark on this big project!

DANCE PRACTICE AND GAMES

Maryna came to our class again today to help us practice the songs we are preparing for dad’s day. The dance practice went by really quick, because we know the songs so well now! Since we had extra time, Maryna played a new game with us too! We sat in a circle around Maryna, and when she walked in front of us, we had to go under her legs and form a line behind her. The line kept getting bigger and bigger with each friend that had to crawl under everyone’s legs! Even Cameron and Axel had to go under! They barely fit! We couldn’t keep from laughing so much! It was such a fun game!

CIRCLE TIME

To start circle time, we reviewed what topic we are focusing on now...

Th: I know that one of the days we talked about, “is everyone the same?”

Sh: Do you like me?

We confirmed what we talked about and that we like ourselves.

Ke: I like myself, but sometimes someone don’t like me. Yu is not liking me a little bit…but I don’t know. I love Yu a lot! Sometimes Yu plays with me, but I want to play more! I like Yu this much!

Sh: I love myself, but some people hate me, but not in Flowers.

Even though we like and love ourselves very much, and have others who like and love us too, there may be people who don’t feel that way about us. But we think that’s ok.

Hi: Sometimes I fight with Te. Sometimes we are punching! But I love my brother! Te and Yu are friends, but sometimes they are pushing. It’s not mean! They’re just being funny!

Mi: Even if my mom or dad is angry, they still love me.

We think that relationships can be complicated. Sometimes we fight or argue with those we love the most. Honestly, we’re not even sure why we fight at times. We feel that it’s worth working through the infrequent troubling parts of a relationship with friends and family so that we can enjoy the happy times!

One potential reason for why things don’t always go on without a hitch could be our differences.

QUESTION OF THE DAY

Th & Hi: Is it ok to be different?

What does different mean?

Ta: Different means not same.

Be: Different is the opposite of same.

Hi: Even something look the same, it can be different like the color. Someone’s skin color might be the same, but still people different.

Gr: If everyone same black hair, then everyone the same!

Re: Like everyone is Hi, but you don’t know where is Hi!

Be: If everyone has the same name, we don’t know who is who.

Ei: Even is some of us have same color hair, some of us have curly hair like Gr, and mine is straight!

Ma: If everybody goes to Flowers class and have same hair, we don’t know who is Hiori!

We had fun thinking what it would be like if everyone looked exactly like Hi and if we all had the same name and birthday too! It would make our days very confusing! We wouldn’t know who we were talking to! It might be funny for one day for everyone to be exactly the same, but we think that it would get boring soon!

We much prefer to be different!

We played a game so that we could see the many differences between things. We all took our shoes off and lined them up in the middle of the circle. What do we see?

Mi: I see Frozen!

Ri: Colors!

Re: Same shoes!

Ty: Shinkansen shoes!

Cl: This shoe and this shoe same!

Yu: I see colors!

Ei: Some are triangles!

Gr: I see purple shoes!

There were so many kinds of shoes, and all but two were completely different. Let’s see how we can arrange or group the shoes.

Hi and Re decided to group the shoes based on color, Be and Th grouped the shoes based on height, and Ty and Yu didn’t group them at all, but rather organized the shoes into an egg-shape.

There are lots of ways to group shoes, some more obvious than others, but at the end of the day, they are all shoes, and they all fulfill a role for each of us. We love our shoes!

SHARING

Ke: This is I pick up in Saipan! This is shell and this is coconut!

We passed around the shells and little coconuts so that we could get a closer look! As always, thank you for sharing Ke!

Have a wonderful evening! We’ll see again tomorrow!

Love,

Flowers XOXO
