Reviewing our movements with "Wheels on the Bus"
Happy Wednesday everyone! For our friends, today is the last day of school for the week and we go into a long four day weekend! We don’t have school, but our parents and teachers will be chatting on ZOOM to talk about what we have accomplished so far this year!
We had a little longer free play time in the morning to give all of our friends enough time to finished all their paintings and cuttings. When we were finished with our arts and crafts, we drew pictures on the blackboard, made music with our sound board, cooked with the food toys, or molded monsters with the play dough! After our free play time, we carefully packed everything away then joined our friends and teachers for circle time! We started with our Colors and Feelings song. We practiced singing it a few times, then gathered in the library for story time.
Nimo showed us a book we were very familiar with, “The Wheels On The Bus” illustrated by Jerry Smath. As we read the book we reviewed the movements and sang along with the guitar!
J: *Pointed at the book* Bus! Wiper!
Nimo: The book says, “People on the bus go bumpity bump, bumpity bump.”
L: No, it’s up and down!
Nimo: Mommies say?
B: Shhh
R: And daddies say, “I love you” right?
Before we got ready for the park, we had one more chat about playing safely at the park.
Nimo showed us a box full of rocks. Each rock was a different shape and color.
Nimo: Do you like rocks?
P: I love rocks!
Nimo: Is a rock soft or hard?
M: Hard
We passed the rocks around and felt how hard it was. Then we passed around the cushion and noticed how soft it was.
B: Soft.
D: Yummy!
E: It’s not okay to throw rocks right?
Nimo: That’s right Eddie! Do you know why it’s not okay?
We thought for a moment, then our teachers helped us find the answer. Nimo tossed us the cushion and we tried to catch it. Some of us caught it and for some, it landed on our face! The cushion was very soft so we didn’t mind it if it landed on our faces.
Nimo: Do you think we could do the same thing with this rock?
L: No!
Nimo: Why?
S: It’s ouchie.
Nimo: Do you think it is a good idea to run with rocks and sticks in your hands?
D: No!
T: If you run and fall, ouchie!
R: Like fire, it's very very ouchie right?
The balls we play with at the park are soft so we can kick them or throw them. However hard things like rocks can hurt us and our friends. Our teachers noticed that we have been very curious about rocks and love collecting them. They don’t want to tell us that we can’t play with rocks, instead we decided on a few rules with them so we are all safe.
With our new rules fresh in our minds, we went to Cheeky Cheeky Park (The open area where Iki Iki Plaza used to be) and enjoyed running or playing with the rocks and dirt!
Thank you all for another fabulous day! Hope you all have a great evening and we will see you either tomorrow or Friday for our PTC!
Love,
Petals
