Let's make a potion!

Welcome back Petals! We hope all of you had a lovely fall break.
We began our first day back in an old, familiar way- dancing to our favorite tunes. B requested the “ Penguin Dance” while K, “Baby Shark”. We also filled our classroom with Halloween cheers, with “ The Monster Song” and “The Floor Is Lava- Halloween Edition”.

We then talked about Halloween, Petals friends excitedly shared their costume to the class. Evita then asked, “What colors do we see on Halloween?” Everyone was eager to list colors they see like, orange, white, black, green, and purple.

To make our Halloween lesson more fun, we gathered in a circle around a table where Evita, dressed as a witch, revisited our past lessons on primary and secondary colors and informed the class that we are going to make green, orange, and purple potions. She asked the class which primary colors we need to make Halloween colors. Louis and Brendan helped mix blue and green food color into cups filled with baking soda while R poured vinegar to reveal a bubbling green potion! The excitement grew as we took turns making orange and purple potions.
It was a magical way to start our week, filled with dancing, storytelling and some science magic! We can’t wait to show off our Halloween costumes on Thursday.
Love,
Petals
