Fall break is almost here!

Thursday 10/17/2024

Hello everyone and welcome to another fun day in Flowers Class. This morning, we enjoyed playing with dinosaurs’ toys, wooden blocks, Montesori counting tools and quick fingers games! Today is a special day because it’s Tyler’s real birthday! Happy birthday, dear T.!

Thank you for reading our daily journal!

M., H. AND T.’S BIRTHDAY PARTY

Today we held a party for all the October celebrants. We were so pleased to welcome M.’s Mom and Dad, T.’s Mom and Dad and H.’s Auntie to party with us! All these Flowers friends turned 5 years old this month! To celebrate, we gave them special cards and crowns that we made during our morning craft time. Their parents even planned games for us, and we played altogether!

The first game was a “pass the parcel game” in which each Flowers friend was sitting in front of a wrapped gift and had to exchange it with the friend on their left while music was playing. When the music stopped, we had to open the wrapping paper of the one we eventually had in our hands. Surprisingly, there were a lot of layers of wrapping paper! So, we had to do that for several rounds before managing to open the presents! It was so fun!!

The second game had us decorating our own cupcakes with colorful sprinkles and blueberries. Every cupcake came out different from the others! And then, we ate them! It was so Yummy! Thank you so much, daddies, mommies and auntie for this special moment with everyone!

CIRCLE TIME AND QUESTION OF THE DAY

We started our daily circle time by singing our “Criss-cross apple sauce, hands in the cookie jar” song. This one is to remind us about the proper way to sit during circle time while being a super fun song. Friends can share about their favorite taste of cupcakes; we got a lot of strawberries, chocolate, rainbow, cookies and “socks” (pretend) cupcakes! Yummy!

Then, Axel asked us to read our daily question of the day: Did you like sweet potato digging?

Y.: No, because my hands become sticky!

T.: No, because I don’t like to dig in the soil.

M.: I don’t like sweet potatoes.

K.: Because I don’t go.

Y.: Yes, because I can digging strong.

T.: Because sweet potato is very yummy. I drop it in oil under the tree and eat. Yummy yummy yummy yummy.

M.: Every day is sweet potato, banana and grapes for me.

H.: I like them because they are sweet!

Z.: Sweet, yum!

O.: Sweet potato, it’s so yummy. Make potato chips.

R.: Yes, because I like digging.

T.: Because I catch a caterpillar.

Following that, our teacher took our special calendar and showed us the next events marked on it. We started by sharing on “Evacuation drill”, what does it mean?

M.: It means it’s a real drill.

Y.: It’s just a pretend one.

C.: It’s practice!

R.: Is that tomorrow?

That’s right, R.! Tomorrow, Flowers will be pretending to evacuate the school, and we will meet our parents at 11:30 at the green area of Step Park. Then we shared a bit about our projects during the Fall break, which is next week!

T.: I am going to Hawai!

H.: I am going back to Nishimachi.

K.: Me too.

T.: Yes, Nishimachi…

Y.: I am going hotel! I will play at the hotel and at 21st I am going to play at the pool!

R.: I go to somewhere. Chiba play with Kensei and Kyosei.
