Making our dragon companions!

It’s Fabulous Friday everyone! After we finished painting our pumpkins, we danced to some songs from the guitar then sang Happy Birthday to R and B! Then we moved to the library for circle time. Nimo started by showing us the pumpkin we painted and some pictures similar to it. Then he showed us a picture of a lady namded, Yayoi Kusama, a famous pumpkin artist. Our pumpkin paintings we have been making are inspired by Yayoi and we loved the colorful designs! We noticed she always uses pumpkins in her art, and all the pumpkins are different shapes, sizes, and colors. Yayoi uses slightly different dots to match the shape of the pumpkin.

After learning about Yayoi, we read, “Zog and the Flying Doctors” by Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler. It was about a dragon named Zog who had two human friends that were doctors. They flew around the world helping animals and people in need! We enjoyed our story time, then Nimo asked us if we remembered what we did last week. He showed us the dragons we drew and we talked a little about them. Just like in the book, Zog had two human friends, we wanted to make another character to be our dragon’s friend.
We split up into three groups and sat down with our teachers and talked about what we wanted to make out of pipe cleaners and popsicle sticks.
P: Purple Fish!
B: Dinosaur
M: Me too Dinosaur!
K: Tomose fish!
R: A doctor! The dragon ran out of fire so the doctor going to help him
T: Cannon!
D: House. Dragon will play with me in my house!
M: This is the roof!
E: This is a friend of the dragon.
J: *Showed his teachers what he made proudly*

We were very happy with our creations! We can’t wait to start making stories about them! We were so focused on making our characters, we forgot about the time! We decided to skip eating snacks today and go straight to the park. If our friends wanted to eat their snack with their lunch, they were welcome to do so!

Hope everyone had a wonderful week! Have a great weekend and we will see you all again on Monday!
