First day of the second term!

Happy New year!

Welcome back Everyone!
Today in Petals Class, the children excitedly returned from their winter break. Evita led the crafting of our New Year's Card for Asahi Youchien, while Sayaka guided other students in making homemade playdough for our class.
During our circle time, we sang and danced to “ Penguin Dance” and “ Walking In the Jungle”. For this week our focus will be on introducing ourselves. Nemo played music as we took turns in saying our names in our “Good Morning” song. Evita asked the class what’s her name and introduced herself. She then showed her name tag and asked the class to help her spell her name.
E: What is my name?
J/ M/ L: Evita!
Evita: Can you help me spell my name?
L: E!
M: V!
Y: I!
Petals: T, A!
Evita: Is this your name tag? (asking, J, S, and E)
E: Your name!
M: I can spell my name!
Evita: Why is it important to know our name?
J: So we know our name!
M: Because it is important!
J: My name is special! I can spell my name J!
Evita then gave everyone their name tags. She explained that they needed to stick letter stickers to the popsicle sticks to spell their name. Divided into groups, the class practiced spelling their names with their name tags, reinforcing the importance of knowing how to spell their names. We then ate our snacks and got ready for the park. While we are waiting, Sayaka read the book, “ I Want Your Moo”. It is a story about a Turkey named Toodles, who doesn’t like her sound. She asked the cow, chick, duck, rooster, horse, pig, and owl if she could have their sound instead. All the animals said no and explained that the sound she makes is uniquely right for her, just like their sound is right for them. She didn’t understand why she had an ugly sound and went back to the barn. Then she heard a loud shriek and saw that the chicks were trembling in fear of the hawk. She then loudly made her sound to make the hawk go away. The hawk flew away and everybody cheered for her. It is at this moment she understood that her sound is uniquely hers and not ugly.
The first day of the 2nd term is concluded. We're eagerly looking forward to numerous days ahead that will be filled with fun and exploration. See you all tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
