Second day of school! Learning our friends names!
Happy Tuesday everyone!
Today was another short day in Petals Class! Just like yesterday, we started our morning with our morning jobs. Our table activities for today were Playdough making, Free drawing, and Discovery Glasses. The free drawing table were for our friends who didn’t get to do their drawings yesterday or for our friends that just wanted to doodle more! Together with Sayaka, we helped her make some playdough! We first used the measuring cup to get some flour and other ingredients inside the bowl. Then we mixed, mixed, and mixed! It was really hard to mix the dough towards the end! We all chose a color for our playdough and Sayaka put it in the microwave to finish it up! We didn’t get to see how it turned out today, that will be a surprise for tomorrow! On our other table, we had neat little glasses that had pictures of animals inside them! When we flipped the lever the picture changed! It was so cool seeing all kinds of animals! We also did a fantastic job of sharing and taking turns!
After our morning free play time, we washed our hands and went to the toilet if we needed to. Once all of our friends were ready, our Snack Leaders A and R helped lead our snack time song! Gochisousamadeshita! We finished our snacks and went for book time in the library. Our teachers also read us some stories!
When everyone was finished, we gathered into a circle and sang our “Good Morning” song. We sang our names to our friends and listened to our other friends sing. After we sang our song, we played one quick activity with our names. Nimo showed us our names and we had to raise our hand if we thought it was our name. We all did an amazing job recognizing our names! Then, Nimo broke our names up into syllables and we clapped as we said each syllable. It was a fun and rhythmic way of learning our friends' names!
Before we stood up and had singing and dance time, Nimo read us a book called, “Excuse Me”. It was a wonderful flip book about manners. Our teachers were very impressed with how much we knew about manners!
Nimo: If mommy asks you if you want peas for breakfast what do you say?
M: No, thank you.
Nimo: What if you burp?
L: Excuse me!
Nimo: Daddy asks if you want candy?
Y: Yes, please.
Nimo: What if you accidentally broke your sister or your friend's toy?
M: I’m sorry.
Nimo: If your grandma or your petals friends give you a special gift?
R: You say, “Thank you!”
Nimo: What do you say when Mommy and Daddy put you in bed with a kiss?
L: Good night!
Y: I love you!
Wow! Good job friends! Everyone knew what to say and they said it very politely! Nimo reminded us that these polite, nice words are great to use inside the classroom too!
Nimo got his guitar and asked us to stand up. We danced to “Head, Shoulders, Knees, and Toes” and “Shake My Sillies Out”. We really enjoyed it when the song got faster, and faster, and faster as we kept singing and dancing! We finished our short day singing, “You Are My Sunshine”.
Tomorrow is finally going to be a full school day! We can’t wait to go to the park together, eat lunch together, and have more discussions together!
Have a fabulous evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
