Shake the Maracas!

Good morning everyone! It was cloudy and we saw a bit of rainy drops this morning. We wanted to go to the park but because of the weather, we decided to stay inside.

During free play time, teachers settled different activities including playdough, blocks, and peg activity. We also did drawing! For the peg activity, we went on the balcony and we used our fingers to pinch it. Pinching the peg and hanging the toy clothes were a bit tricky but it was a great challenging activity for us. “Help me please!” We asked our teacher to help us to hang many clothes and we did it! As we love playing with blocks, we built towers!

After we finished our snack time, we had today’s circle time. “Selfish Crocodile “by Faustin Charles and Michael Terry, that’s the book we read today! It was a great story. In the book, there was a scary, large, and selfish crocodile who doesn’t want to share the river with his friends. He always threatens the other animals and he makes them go away. He even says that the river is just his river! All the animals are scared of him and nobody wants to be his friend. One day, the crocodile had a big pain inside his mouth. Who wants to help him? No one wanted to! Except for a brave and kind mouse that went inside his mouth, oh no! Don’t worry, the mouse actually took his bad tooth, so the crocodile’s pain was gone. What happened made the crocodile think and reflect on himself. After that, he became a very nice crocodile and all animals were happy to be friends with him.

When petals were listening to the part where the mouse went inside the crocodile’s mouth, we pointed out our own mouth and asked, “Ouchy?” Also, when the mouse returned safely from the crocodile’s mouth, we were very relieved! Then Sayaka showed us one of the puppets, pretending it was a monster. “What if the monster will bite you? Grrrrrr!” R was a bit confused about the monster and thought it was real but most of us were not scared at all. Sayaka asked us to climb the bumpy balance blocks that we can hop on. The rule was like this, Sayaka plays the music and when the music stops, we hop on the blocks. The puppet monster will try to catch us…Sayaka said to us. “Oh no…” We didn’t want the monster to eat us…Then she mentioned that the monster doesn’t like the sound of the maracas so if we shake the maracas we made yesterday, the monster won’t eat us! Sayaka played the music that we enjoyed yesterday. We ran fast, jumped high, and shook the maracas to the monster! Just before we start getting ready for the pool, we sang our good morning greeting song.

The pool time was as fun as always! We enjoyed splashing like the crocodile! It was a bit cooler than yesterday but having water play was great and we didn’t want to get out of the pool. After that, we had lunch time.

Tomorrow will be the last day of our 5th week of Summer School! Time flies when we’re having fun.

Thank you very much for today! Hope everyone gets some good rest and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
