The Sakura Bug

Pretend Play with Human Figure Toys

The human figures toys were again brought out for us to do pretend play/ storytelling. Here’s what transpired:

  1. R and G bonded by having the toy figurines walk/balance on top of the beams

  2. K, S, J, and G bonded together out at the balcony lining up toy figurines and engaged in a collaborative storytelling, taking in cues from one another’s actions on how to go about their story.

  3. A spent time balancing toy figurines so that it could stand on its own

While a few of us engaged in pretend play with human figure toys, some of us asked our teachers to read us a book. Reading a book together strengthens the bond between adult and child. L brought Goh San a book for her to read so that they could bond. With a common fondness towards Thomas the Train, I, S, W, R, and Erika read a book about the famous character. It was interesting to hear an engaging discussion about their thoughts about the pictures they see from the book.

J, S, K, and G opted for Tamara to read them a story of “There’s A Giraffe in My Soup” by Ross Burach.

Coloring CDs

To continue on with our exploration of CDs, we used the same POSCA markers from yesterday and colored its back side. E ended up coloring his entire palm red while G took initiative in guiding M on how to properly use the markers.

I, on the other hand, had his turn to use the toy microwave and spent time observing how it would lit up and spin.

Circle Time

For Circle Time, Erika guided us in taking the lead on how to help our new friends settle down by being a role model for them. W, K, J, G, and S stepped up in modeling to their new friends how we can all enjoy doing Circle Time.

Our older friends did such a great job in leading the class that we were rewarded by being read our favorite book, “Ten Little Night Stars” by Deb Gruelle.

Outdoor Play

For outdoor play, we went out to the temple to run around and savor the last of cherry blossoms. S, K, S, W, E, J, and G were all brave and encouraged Erika and Yuri , who were both afraid of bugs, to come with them to observe the “SAKURA BUG” and its house under the ground.

We hope everyone is having a wonderful Thursday so far.

Love,

Buds Class Children
