Happy Dads Day!

February 23, 2023:  Dad’s Day! DADS IN SHINING ARMOUR

Dad’s Freeplay!

Morning Routine

At the start of the day, all of our friends came in with their dads to show them how they do their morning routines. It was all coats, shoes and bags off! Many were very proud to show their dads how they are able to take off and put on their own shoes and coats. Dad’s got to watch as each of their little special Bud placed their pouch in the correct spot. Our friends felt so accomplished as they walked with their dad’s to show them their names and where they hang their bags. We are so proud of all of our Buds friends for welcoming their dads and helping them be a part of their daily routines.

Legos, Playdough and Balloons! Oh my!

Here at Buds class we prepared an amazing day of fun for all of our friends and their dads! We had balls and balloons for tossing, playdough for cooking, lego blocks for stacking and huts for exploring! Our friends enthusiastically ran to each station with their dads for a day of play!

At the playdough station we all made delicious imaginary foods such as cakes, pasta and breads. A few of our friends took to the playdough very well! Some even showed their dads how to make interesting shapes with the stencils. And many of our friends liked adding colorful decorations and pieces to each one of their delicious creations. They enjoyed molding and kneading the playdough into different creations with their dads.

At the lego station, our friends showed dads all the different structures they could build. They made towers and walls and connected big and small legos. Our friends sharing their imaginations with dads was so heartwarming.

The most popular station was the balloons, balls and the huts. All of our Buds friends had a chance to play with the balloons and balls. Some of our friends loved to show their dads how high they could toss the balloons and the balls. They also played catch with the dads and watched dads juggle. Some of our Buds friends even enjoyed throwing the balls and balloons at their dads and piling them on their dads lap. A few of our friends explored the huts and played games of catch with dads in the huts. Other Buds friends tried to squeeze through the huts with their dads but sadly, the dads didn’t fit into the hut.

Overall, it was heartwarming to see how all of our friends really included their dads in today’s events. Each of our friends were so delighted to have their dads be a part of their day in Buds class.

Circle Time

Circle time today was very eventful! Everyone of our friends sat with their dads in a big circle! One of the biggest we had in Buds class. We started our circle time with our good morning song and each dad was included. Then we had a fun guessing game. All of our friends heard a fact about each dad and had to guess who’s dad it was. We had some really funny responses from some of our friends about their dads. Everyone had an amazing time hearing some of our friends' responses and hearing dads telling jokes. Then everyone got to receive a circle with a picture of them and dad, which they took with zest.

After our guessing game, we all got to sing for the dads. We sang Nat King Cole’s famous song L.O.V.E. We sang it acapella first then we sang it with the music. The expressions of joy on each day's faces brought so much joy to all of us in Buds class.

Next, each of our friends got to dance with their dad. The dance was a tricky dance because everyone had to stay on a sheet of newspaper while dancing. Watching each of our friends with their dads dance was a charming sign. We then did a conga dance and watched all of our friends and dads get loose and kick up their feet to the music! Everyone danced with so much energy.

Sadly, all good things come to an end because we had to tell the dads goodbye. Before each dad left for the day we gave them a special gift. Since we are traveling to Europe this month our friends previously created a crown and decorated it. Today, our friends gave each of the crowns to their dads. Each crown was placed on their dad’s head and each dad accepted the honor graciously. When everyone had a crown we took a picture to remember this beautiful day.

Thank you again to everyone that came and took time to be a part of Bud's daily life at Ohana. Thank you dads for coming and making this truly a terrific Thursday at Ohana.

Love,

Buds Class Children
