Learning about Insects!

Happy Monday! Our morning is a little busy today. After unpacking their bags, they immediately embarked on a Hedgehog Spaghetti Bead Threading adventure. Their tiny little fingers practiced threading beads with the animal that we’ve been learning about. In the spirit of winter show anticipation, we worked on our secret props, adding an extra dash of excitement to the day of our performance.
Our usual “Walking In The Jungle “ routine took a delightful twist today. Pausing to listen to animal sounds, Evita played mysterious sounds, turning the guessing game into giggles and squeals. During circle time, she reviewed the animals that we already learned. To spark their curiosity, she unveiled some clay insect fossils. Everyone wanted to hold the fossilized insects. They took turns examining and tried to guess which insect they thought it was. She then asked what we call these kinds of small animals and where they live. Petals Class is very intrigued by little insects, which is why they were all eager to answer questions that she asked.
After our lively discussion, Evita showed the class the Play-Doh Bug that she made. She told the class that they were going to make their own bugs with play dough and they needed to try to name it.

When we finished making our bugs, Evita read, “Anansi The Spider”. It is an African story of a spider named, Anansi. Anansi has 6 sons, See Trouble, Road Builder, River Drinker, Game Skinner, Stone Thrower, and Cushion. One day, Anansi went out and got lost. His sons sensed that he was in trouble, they went out and looked for him. They rescued him from the fish and the falcon. When they reached home he wanted to give the globe of light to the son that rescued him. He asked Nyame, The God of All Things to hold on to the globe of light while he was still deciding whom he should give it to. Then, Nyame took the globe of light up into the sky. Until now the globe of light is still up in the sky. It is always there during night time, the moon.
We decided to go to the temple today. We practiced our Christmas song while we were walking. At the temple. R, S, E, T, and M were looking for bugs while the others ran around the temple.
We learned a lot today, looking forward to our new adventures tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
