Our Very Own LEGO Designs
July 11, 2022
Welcome to week 5 of our summer school! A very big warm welcome to Ry (Rs’ brother), A (welcome back to Flowers!), and Is ! We are very happy to have you. Let’s have fun learning about how our food and toys are made. We had an interesting discussion about how we think Lego blocks are made. Who doesn’t love Lego😊 Everyone actively engaged in our activity about Lego? Please read on to discover what happened as our imagination take the lead!
MORNING ACTIVITIES
We got excited to see a table full of Lego mini figures and accessories. They have different features, too. Our hands were full as we tried to mix and match them. Next to these LEGO toys were sets of castles that we built by ourselves. We had fun building castles and having the LEGO mini figures act around them. We also enjoyed hammering nails on cork boards to make different patterns. A set of large blocks were on the mat, too! Some our friends had a wonderful time looking at our science books that feature the human body.
Talking about toys, we made one today. We drew lines and different patterns on a circle-shaped cardboard stock. Can you guess what we made? A spinner! Our teachers will put a thin rope through it, and we could try them tomorrow.
WATER PLAY and GROUP ACTIVITY
Thanks to today’s bright weather, we were able to enjoy water play. This week’s weather forecast looks like today might be the only perfect day for water play. We had two groups for water play and while waiting for our turn, we had a group activity.
Vieda said that we let us imagine that LEGO company asked us to design a new set of LEGO blocks. We were given papers, markers, and colored pencils to work on our very own design of LEGO blocks. As a group, we were supposed to take turns in sharing our idea about the design. We did not expect that it would take us some time to finish our design, which made the waiting time for our friends longer. So as not to miss any ideas, our teachers gave each of us a piece of paper to draw our designs.
Please enjoy these “newest” LEGO designs!
