Discovering Nature, and Birthday Celebration

Today we were busy with lots of fun and celebration in Buds Class. The highlight of the day was our virtual Birthday Party. We want to thank Ky, Ka and Ki, Si and JJ, and Y san. Who organized today’s Birthday Party and for sending goody bags for the children to take home.

Nature Sensory Jar and Nature Play

Moving on with our nature discovery, today's part of our nature sensory experience was creating our Nature bottles. With the help of our teachers, we put different nature treasures, mainly leaves, twigs, rocks, seashells, artificial flowers and sand, into a jar. We also added colored water and noticed how the natural materials emerged into the water. We were passionate about how each one of them came out so differently. Our sensory bottles promote a sense of wonder for us to explore and discover.

Nature Sensory Collage

Using some leftovers from our sensory bin, we created a collage out of natural materials. First, we taped the non sticky side of the contact paper onto the table. As soon as it was ready we started placing leaves, twigs and flower petals, and brown plastic strips (from our old basket)on the contact paper. Then we sealed it with another piece of contact paper. We then hung them by the window. We were fascinated by how the flower petals and the leaves looked against the sunlight.

Birthday Celebration

Today was a special day in Bud's class because we celebrated Ra, Ja, Sen and Ry’s Birthday. Soon after tidying up our classroom, we all gathered in a circle together; sang our favorite songs, "Baby shark", "Twinkle, twinkle little star", and "Skinnamarink" while our teachers set up the classroom. Who could be our special guests today? We were delighted to see Kg, Ya, Sai and J, Kko and Khi on the wall of our classroom. We greeted them “Hello” with our big smiles. We sang many more songs, because music is one of the things that we love to do in Buds Class. And of course we danced together while John played his guitar. We gave a hug and high five to our birthday friends. We sang Happy Birthday songs and let our friends blow on their special pretend cake that we made this morning.

We had another short circle just, before having our snack. We discussed and shared our observations about what was inside our nature jars.

We noticed that there are flowers, pinecones, twigs and shells inside the jar.
We have different jars with different colored water in them. One is red, and the other one is blue while the other has sand in it.
We discovered that bubbles pop up when you add water inside the jar.
We noticed how the flowers and leaves moved inside the jar.
When filling up the jar, we noticed that if you place pinecones in the jar before you put sand in, the sand will cover the pinecones.
We had a fabulous time at the park together. It was beautiful weather outside, and we played with balls and ran around in the green area.

we hope you had a great day!

Love,

Buds Class
