Farewell But Not Goodbye
Today was fun but also a sad day for us. As we all know Michael is going back to the United States so today we maximized our playtime with him. Inside we worked on puzzles together, played with Michael’s bouncy ball that he brought, kicked the beachball around, and we tried to figure out how to get the fruit counters out of the paper roll. We tried to use the colored pencil and ruler but it wasn’t long enough. Then we went outside to find the sticks and were able to get them out. Out in the garden, we cooked with sticks and used them for fishing. It was a beautiful day and some of us just wanted to lay down in the garden. We packed away a little bit earlier today because we had a special visitor coming.
Before the special visitor came we noticed that there were two other teachers in the room. We sang our hello song and introduced ourselves to them. When we found out one of the teacher's names we couldn’t believe it! His name is Oscar, too! We gave a big “What!?” But it’s ok to have two people with the same name. We still didn’t really believe it though. The other teacher was Debbie. We’ve seen her before but we haven’t formally introduced her to the class. After a quick introduction, it was time for our special visitor. It was Michael’s mom, Lauren! Lauren came to have a farewell party for Michael. She showed us Michael’s photos of his time in Japan and when he was a little toddler. Michael saw trains, drank strawberry champagne when on a clear kayak, caught his own fish for dinner and so much more during his time here. It looked like he had a lot of fun when he was in Japan! We wanted to tell him something as well. Hiori started by saying, “I’ll miss play together”. Some of us also wanted to say something as well:
Collier: I’ll miss playing with you
Kenzo: I’ll miss you Michael.
Cotone: I will miss you, Michael
We gave him big big hugs and then it was time to play one of Michael’s favorite games. He said he loves to play The Floor is Lava! We said our goodbyes to Lauren first before playing the game. The balance beams were set up on the floor and when the music stops we all had to stand on the balance beam. We did such a great job, all of our friends were able to get on the beam by the time the floor turned to lava! After a few rounds of the floor is lava we decided to go to the park.
We had plenty of time at the park today in the magnificent weather. We played in the playground because nobody was there. Buds Class came to play in the green area and Flower Class join us on the playground. We had a lot of fun climbing, going down the slides, swinging and catching the teachers. It was a wonderful way to end the day!
We will miss Micahel very much and hope we’ll be able to see each other again. Have a safe journey!
XOXO,
