Busy with preparations!
Good morning! It was freezing cold today. We definitely needed to wear nice and warm jackets. Since we only have two days until our party, we were busy with things we need to get done for the party. Our teachers decided for us to have longer free play time so we had plenty of time to do our crafts (plus it was still raining this morning). Nimo and Sayaka were busy decorating our classroom. C, R, L, J, and P helped us to add more decorations onto the tree. Our Stocking craft was so much fun yesterday! We came inside class and enjoyed looking at the masterpieces we made. Nimo tried to hang them up as our decorations. “What are you doing, Nimo?” We asked him. Even though we already had a good idea on what he was doing, we couldn't resist asking him as we were very excited to see them go up!
Just right after we finished cleaning up our toys, Sayaka asked us to come and sit in the circle. Sayaka showed the two broken cars. While we were having free play time, one of our friends found the broken toys. ”It’s very sad, but this is not the first time we talked about why we need to use gentle hands”. Sayaka started explaining. “I didn’t break it”, One of our friends said, “I didn’t do that”, another said as well. Sayaka was very serious and so was Nimo. They explained that it’s not about who broke it and who didn’t. Our teachers wondered if we don’t care about our toys because it’s not our own toys. “What if we break your things? What if Sayaka breaks your toy and Nimo doesn’t care because it’s not his things.” We said that we will use gentle hands next time. Sayaka didn’t look happy about it yet. “Petals always say that we will use gentle hands next time, but we are still getting broken toys or books. You don’t like Petals toys?” Our teachers asked us. “I like Petals toys”, our friend answered. Then Sayaka added she saw our friends throw toys or make them crash really hard. Nimo and Sayaka asked us one more time “Do you like teachers not using gentle hands to your belongings?” Some of us felt so sad. Our teachers reminded us once again to be gentle with everything that we have in Petals. Using gentle hands tells us that you show respect to the things and people. Petals nodded their heads as we understood…
We had a late snack time and after that we had Maryna’s dance time. We only have tomorrow for practice! When we finished our rehearsal, Sayaka started talking about our winter party which is the day after tomorrow.
Sayaka: What comes after Tuesday?
R: Saturday!
Sayaka: Ahhh…that’s sounds great to me but Saturday is not coming after Tuesday…Wed…
T: Wednesday!
Sayaka: Yes, its Wednesday and…Thursday, your mom or dad will come to join us for a party!
G: They will be happy!
Then Sayaka asked us what we would like to do during winter holidays. Some of couldn’t wait to tell her because they are so excited for winter holidays. Our teachers had a fun idea to use today’s discussion as a guessing game! We plan to stick what we said onto our holiday tree! Please enjoy trying to guess what we would like to do during holidays!
After we enjoyed circle time, we were very hungry. Sayaka wondered if we were hungry or not because we had a late snack time today. Callie said, “I’m soooo hungry” Then other children also said, “Lunch time, yay!”
Two more days until our special day!
Thank you very much for today and see you tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
