Snowy Day
Happy Holidays everyone, we can’t believe it is already the end of the year and our last day of winter school! To celebrate our last day and our winter holidays, we had a fun ornament making craft! Our teachers prepared a frame for us and we decorated them with collage materials then suck our picture in the middle! We enjoyed imaginative play using food toys, boxes, and kapla blocks. We packed away our toys then had our snacks so we could be ready in time to meet Petals downstairs. 10:45 sharp we were downstairs with Petals and we marched on to Robot Park. We had a great time sliding down all kinds of slides!
When we got back, we gathered around in a circle and sang a few songs. Nimo then showed us a book about seasons. We talked about how the tree looked in each of the seasons.
A: It’s fall in Japan.
A: The leaves turn red.
Nimo: Then comes?
H: Winter, snow.
B: No leaves.
A: Why does the tree have no leaves?
K: Where go leaves?
K: I have a song that tells the seasons. There are 1…2…3…4 seasons in all.
R: What is this? *points at the sleeping squirrel*
H: Winter time no food.
Nimo: Next comes?
H: Spring!
Nimo: Then?
Flowers: Summer!
B: So much (leaves)!
A: This (seed) looks like edamame.
Nimo: Next season?
K: Autumn.
B: Orange!
Nimo: Then we to winter again. Are you ready for winter?
S: I like winter, because I love to play in the snow a lot. I can do snowball fight.
B: I sometimes make snowballs, sometimes snowmen.
Nimo: I want to read you a story, it’s a “Classic”. Just like the other book this one has the gold sticker.
K: What’s “classic” book?
Nimo: It’s when a story is so good, it’s going to always be read. I read it when I was a kid, and my kids will probably read it a long time from now.
The story was “Snowy Day” by Ezra Jack Keats.
A: I don’t have that book in my Florida house.
A: I go shopping and I don’t see this book.
Nimo: You will most likely find it in the library.
K: Is this real story?
Nimo: Maybe.
After we enjoyed the story we had a small good-bye party for our beloved A, who’s last day is today.
We played a game of silly freeze dance then we sat down again to give A our special card we made and gave her hugs!
A: Thank you for joining us in Flowers.
B: I love you, I will miss you too!
S: I will miss you!
R: I miss you, I like you.
A: Thank you, I’ll miss you too!
Thank you everyone for making our Winter School fun and special!
Hope everyone enjoys their winter break! Happy Holidays and a Happy New Year! See you all again in 2023!!!
Love,
Flowers
