Bones in our Feet and Ballerina
We started our circle time with a question, “Are we going to school on Monday? Everyone answered,"No!”. Then, Liezel asked, “Where do you think are we going on Monday?
Au replied, "We’re going to plan something.” Let’s share our ideas!.
Hi: Sports Day
Be: Play at the park
An: I don't want to go anywhere.
D: When finish school have Halloween Park
Ti: Potato digging but I'm not going.
Then we heard that Flowers class and Petals classes are going on potato dig trip on Monday with our moms and dads.
Li What else are we going to do?
Hi: And eat potato.
A: I can't eat sweet potato.
Ti: I can't go.
B: Tir Why you cannot go?
Ti: I don't know. Actually my mom told me she is going to buy a new puzzle.
A: And my Daddy is not coming because he’s gonna stay at home and the man check if that (smoke detector) is working.
We remembered about what we practiced yesterday, we had our fire drill and talked about the smoke detector. We even saw the smoke detectors in our room.
H My mommy have a smoke detector at home but it's different (from Flowers’)
C: Mine has cover on it.
Ti: Sometimes I think that's a police camera.
Going back to our topic about our potato dig on Monday. We wondered how we are going to the farm.
Sh: I can drive a car.
Be: Ride a big, big, big bus.
Ka: When you say big, big, big bus, it's really big!
Speaking about bus Tr mentioned our question of the day. (Do you like to ride on a bus?) We noticed that most of us seemed to be so excited about getting on the bus. Some of our friends answered “no”, so we asked them why.
Ti: I don't like to ride on a bus because it's quiet.
That’s right! Buses are usually quiet. Do you know why? T answered, "because some people are sleeping”. We respect those who want to rest on the bus by keeping quiet.
H: Because it's too early and long time.
Be: Because mommy asked the bus driver if we could play music.
Di: Because I like to be long time to go.
Ti: If the bus is too long then there wouldn’t be enough room on the road.
D: Maybe we need spoon, maybe something special to dig and hold the potato.
Au: And maybe we can bring some toys like monster trucks.
We all agreed that we can bring something to dig and put the potatoes in, but perhaps not a toy.
A SPECIAL TIME WITH MARYNA
We were delighted to see Maryna come in Flowers today. We all thought she looked different. We looked at her and told to her, "You’re beautiful.” It was a different setup today because we were not going to dance this time instead, we were going to hear something special with Maryna. She started with a question about the bones of our feet. We know we have 5, 7, 1, or 10 bones in our feet. We were amazed to hear that we have 26 bones in each foot. We also learned about the parts of our feet, such as ankle, instep(arch), bridge, toe, heel, and ball. We also learned that babies have flat feet because the arch in their feet hasn't yet developed.
Just before our lunch, we had a short circle time, recalling what we had been learning about our lungs.
We have learned the concept of our lungs, such as:
-we have two lungs
-we use our lungs to breathe
-our lungs are in our chest
-our lungs are like balloons.
We wondered why does our chest move up and down when we breathe? C said, "our body goes up and down when we breathe.” D thought the lungs squeeze the heart and the lungs are pumping too.
We learned that our lungs expand when we inhale and are filled with air and get smaller when we breathe out or exhale.
What do you think is the color of your lungs?
We thought it could be pink, yellow, colorful, purple, green, white, red, and blue. We each had a turn to touch the sponge and shared how it felt. We learned that our lungs look and feel like sponges. They are pink, squishy, and flexible enough to squeeze and expand with each breath.
Flying Witch Craft
We continued to work on our Halloween craft from last week. We threaded beads onto the pipe cleaner and, cut out lines, taped them together to resemble a broomstick. Today we made the flying witch using black construction paper cut into a triangle shape. We glued it around the broomstick, then we added a strip of black paper for the hat, and lastly, we drew the face and hair of a witch. Finally, our teachers help us to hang and decorate it in our classroom. We can't wait to dress up for our Halloween Party.
Our day was filled with lots of fun activities and interesting new things!
Have a great evening!
Love,
Flowers
