Creamhead, Danani, and Daga-Oh
Dad’s Celebration
Now that our “DAD’S DAY” banner is all glammed up with colorful dots and shimmering gold, we pasted our photos together with our dad around it. Boy did our eyes widened with excitement and happiness as we saw our photos… squeals of “DADA!”, “PAPA!”, “DADDY!” Seeing our photos made us “talk” about a few fond moments we have with the special man in our lives. We learned that some of our friends’ dads like spiders and plays the piano!
It was interesting to note that some of our friends are able to recognize other dads!
Liezel and Nanako guided us in decorating the memorabilia that we will be giving out by the end of the week.
🌎 Wooden People Figures from Around the Globe 🌏
To slowly transition us for the upcoming International Months, wooden people figures representing a variety of nationalities were available for us to play with. There were also shiny black stones to accompany the figures. Here are the different ways we played:
1. Stacking stones (we need to consider its shapes and size!)
2. Surrounding figures with rocks
3. Making patterns (stone-figure-stone, etc.)
A “What Do You Think?” conversation came about as Erika asked us what we thought about the wooden people figures’ appearances. Here were some of our thoughts:
1. A figure with a bindi on its forehead: “It has an ouchie!”
2. An Asian looking figure in a tuxedo: “It’s K!”
3. A Caucasian looking figure wearing a hat and scarf: “He came from the park!”
We look forward to unfolding more of our ideas and learning about cultures from around the globe!
🍳 Community Kitchen 🥘
As we are going to learn different cultures through food, we had lots of opportunities to showcase our cooking skills and table manners this term! We had several friends who took charge of cooking and eventually made amongst themselves a system wherein one cooks, one mixes, one does the plating, and one serves! With John facilitating our play, we made a fantastic group effort in making sure our line of food production and service went smoothly.
For those who opted to be the diners, we showed how we to wait nicely in order to be served of the delicious food! We showed our skills in using he fork, spoon, knife, and chopsticks!
Fire Drill
Our teachers said we did an amazing job being alert and calm when we heard the fire alarm. We covered our mouth & nose and calmly walked out of the room. One of us even asked, “Are the police coming?” after gathering outside.
💃🏻 FunkyTown Dance Floor 🕺🏼
To get ready for Circle Time, the song “Funkytown” by Lipps Inc was played to warm us up. And my oh my… did we stun our teachers… we ruled the dance floor! Each of us took the spotlight when given to show us some groovy moves. We hope our parents can play this song to see us bust our cool moves!
Chopsticks for Circle Time?!?
For our morning roll call, Erika used a pair of chopsticks to tap our heads when it was our respective turn to say our name and greet everyone. Lots of giggles and laughters came about seeing how the chopsticks was used. A few of the wooden people figurines were formally introduced to the class and we gave it quite interesting names…
- figurine wearing yellow coat is DANANI
- figurine wearing a kimono is CREAMHEAD
- figurine wearing a sari is DAGA-OH
We look forward to learning more about Danani, Creamhead, and Daga-Oh and their other friends this term!
Out to the Park
It’s our first trip to the park as a class for the year 2022! It was fun to be able to do several sprints of fast walking which showed how our stamina and sense of balanced have improved. Happy to report that we did not take that long to get to the park compared to last term.
We hope you the sunshine is warming your Wednesday with joy and wonder!
Love,
Buds Class Children
