In the morning free play we had several activities for us to interact with. At the open end of the room the trains were out and we played spinning tops with Sayaka. We built the tracks all over the room and we lined the trains up one by one in the closet. At the tables we had the marbling paint out and on the other table we had lots of different blue objects, paper and glue. Inside was some blue paper, feathers, yarn, pompoms, cloth and many more. We were wondering what we can do with the random blue objects on the table. We started to glue the objects on the table and then one of our friends wanted to cut some of the objects. We got the scissors and everyone started cutting and gluing. We all had various designs on our paper.

After snack K and Mi volunteered to be our weather reporter. They looked outside and said, “It’s not raining!” That means it’s sunny! S gave a huge smile and said, “Sunny!” We’re very happy we can go outside! Before that we looked at a book with Kai. It was called, Manners Mash-up. We looked at a page and told him that it looked like a classroom. Then we looked at what they were doing more carefully. It turns out they have similar guidelines that we have in Petals Class! In the book they have:

  • Use your indoor voices.

  • Use kind words.

  • Ask nicely.

  • Share.

  • Raise your hand.

  • Put things away neatly.

  • Listen to your teacher.

We think we can all follow the guidelines like the friends in the book. Kai also showed us a polaroid picture that he took today of L and H. In the picture they were using the gentle hands while cleaning up the toys. Lea put the picture up on our wall where we have our guidelines. Kai said that if we see anyone doing something that’s nice and follows the guidelines we can tell the teachers and they’ll take a picture of us to put up on the wall. It will be our Wall of Fame!

Next we went over to the garden to have a look at our changing area. We pick out a grey tape that we can put on the floor. The tape is a boundary for us to stay inside when we have our outside shoes on. Now that we’ve designated our changing area we had a race to put on our shoes. Two by two we ran over to grab our shoes and to use our newly marked changing area. Now we’re ready for the park!

We’re lucky to have the Buds Class walk with us at the park. In the green area we played with balls and the rope. There was also a giraffe stuck on the top of the green area. After the teacher knocked it down in the bushes we watched it as if it were an animal in the zoo. It’s always fun to play with another class at the park. This concludes our magnificent week in Petals Class. Have a wonderful weekend!

Love always,
