Shooting hoops while sitting

What a great way of starting our day with our friends and teachers! Our new friends are becoming much more settled in our classroom and we can’t wait to see more of their personality as they spend more time with us.

Of course, our day was filled with amazing learning activities that our teachers prepared for our young athletes. There were some games/sports that we could play indoors and some table activities that required our sensory, observational and explorative skills.

Glittered Ice Cube Play

Our first table was busy with some ice cubes that we got from our fridge in Flowers class. We thought that they were just regular ice cubes but when we looked at them closely, we noticed that they had various colors and glitters in it. We got so thrilled to explore and waited for them to melt. We moved the ice cube around the big container and they started to leave a trail of glitters and the effect was quite amazing on the table. We were mesmerized and continued to observe until everything melted away. For sure, it was quite a great learning opportunity for us to understand how the ice melts and eventually turns into water. Way to go Buds!

Creating our own noisemakers

On the other table, Sayaka was there to help us out on how to make our noisemakers using the recycled tin cans and some grains of rice from our sensory materials. She showed us how to put the rice gently in the can. For the first few minutes, we did so well but later on, our teachers discovered that everything was on the floor. Our teachers requested if we could clean and pick the rice up with them and we willingly did so.

Indoor basketball and cushion slides

The floor activities were quite popular too. We had the cushion slides and the improvised basketball ring. It was nice to go up and down. We were definitely having a great time. We used the blocks and put them on the slide. Then, they went down very slowly until it fell onto the floor. The basketball hoop was also fun because our friends dunked the ball into it. It’s good to practice our tracking and targeting skills. There are so many things that we can learn from these and we always wanted to try these as many times as we can.

Music sessions

Music is always part of our learning, and it is the universal language that we all speak – one of the many languages of children. We sang our favorite song (Baby Shark and I love you Mommy). The live music in the classroom always gave us an amazing impression that music is not just something that you hear but it also a tool that we can use for learning.

Teddy bear and the way he plays basketball

For our circle time, we all know that this week is all about “Paralympics”. There are so many fun and interesting sports that our Paralympic athletes play in the Olympics. One of those is the Wheelchair basketball. We didn’t have an actual wheelchair in the classroom but we could still sit down while shooting the ball using our arms. Mr. Teddy Bear came to visit Buds class and he showed us how to do it. It was nice to see how our friends participated and did so well with the activity. Well done, Buds friends!

Park time and more ball play

At the park, we brought a bag of balls to the park. In the green area, we practiced kicking, throwing, passing, and dribbling the ball. Erika was there to facilitate the activity and we had so much fun moving around the big area as we also like to run and chase after our teachers. We spent more than an hour playing at the park and outdoor play is always great for all of us to get some fresh air and to experience more of ourselves being with nature.

Thank you so much and have a great day!

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class
