Mother's Day Celebration
Calming Aquatic Atmosphere
The gloomy weather complemented the aquatic environment that was set up. With calming music being played on the background, we wondered in amazement as plethora of fishes and sea creatures swam by us. Quite a few of us even try kissing the fishes when it had its close up. We also sang and danced to Amy Liz’s “Slippery Fish” together with these wonderful sea creatures.
Colorful Funky Hair Dos
In line with our ongoing carnival theme, we are slowly being introduced to the different types of performers. This morning, cardboard pieces were placed out with circles and lines drawn on it for us to decorate. We could either work on the curly hairdo by pasting rainbow pompoms & round foams or on the straight hairdo by pasting strips of colored paper, feather, and sticky wax sticks.
Peanut Butter & Jelly Play Dough
A well loved book that we have been enjoying and requesting from our teachers to read often the past few days is “Peanut Butter and Jelly: A Play Rhyme” by Nadine Westcott. The book is a sing-a-long which widens our vocabulary on the different actions we do while making a PB&J sandwich. We used playdough to re-enact the book and focused on naming the different actions such as “knead”, “mash”, “roll”, “ slice”, and “smear”.
Calming Down Stretches
Before transitions, we often do calming down activities to help us feel more settled in doing a new task. This morning, we lied down on our backs, closed our eyes and placed our legs up high!
Final Touches on our Mother’s Day Gifts
Together with Tamara, we finished up making the cards to put on our special potpourri which we have been mixing the past days. We hope you enjoy the exclusive Buds scent that we made! :)
CIRCLE TIME
Whenever we see the projector being used, we automatically know that someone special is/are coming to visit. Before meeting our special guests, we danced to the “Hockey Pockey” by Sangeetha Thangarajan which has a catchy beat. Through the song, we are slowly gaining awareness of where our left and right sides are. It was extra funny when we all had to bottoms “in and out” of the circle. A new song, ‘Tooty Ta” by Dr. Jean Feldman was also played for us… the song aims to help us better our body coordination and try to recall all the steps.
When we were asked where we thought our mom would be coming from, most of us said that they would come through the door but were surprised when we saw them on the big screen instead! We had a lovely time playing “Simon Says” and watching the special talents of Sunny (Callie’s mom) playing the harmonica and Sae (Shin’s mom) playing the ukulele. We are always grateful for our moms who provide us with love and care.
We hope you had a lovely day!
Love, Buds Class Children
