A Carnival Act

Carnival Picture Group Art Coloring

A big picture filled with animals and carnival objects was laid out and available for us to fill in with colors. Apart from coloring, we identified animals, shapes, and gave guesses on what tricks the animals can do. This activity also required group work as we had to first discuss about the color we wanted to use for the pictures.

Counting & Slotting in Finger Puppets

“One little, two little, three little fingers”… this song has been a favorite calming song of ours the past few days. In line with the song, a wooden counting fingers/hand object was available for us to explore different  finger movements and practice our fine motor skills by slotting in finger puppets on it.  It was fun working in pairs and  find ways on how to communicate one’s ideas for cooperation.

A Hive for the Bees

Our newspaper bumble bees need a home to settle in which is why we decided to further work on our bubble wrap painting group artwork. With the colors orange and yellow already painted  on it, we pasted the hexagon artwork we made with Nanako. Some of us opted to use stickers to fill in the dots inside the hexagon. We also worked with some stencil rolls to add some texture for the beehive.

Catching Butterflies

Our butterfly sanctuary was hanged up high so that it looked like the butterflies were flying up in the air.  We tried squatting and jumping as high as we can to touch these fluttering butterflies. We had a pretty good cardio workout !

Interactive Imaginative Play

Using our Buds Forest and several carnival animals as the setting and characters, we were encouraged to make up stories. It was interesting to see how the story progressed as each of us slowly joined in and added a different flare to the plot.

CIRCLE TIME

We started our Circle Time by dancing to Goh San’s favorite song “Shalalala” by the Venga Boys which most of us have grown to enjoy listening to.

The Carnival Picture which we colored during Free Play period was brought out for us to see how far we’ve worked on it. Using the images from the book “Circus Caps for Sale” by Esphyr Slobodkina, we pointed out differences and similarities between it and our carnival pictures. We also got to try out a new circus act by balancing bowls and plates on a stick! We took it further by moving around the room while balancing it too. We look forward to trying  more circus acts soon!

It was also a lovely warm day to go to the park and what a treat! The children from both Petals and Flowers were there too! We had a lovely time blowing bubbles and running together.

We hope you all had a lovely day!
