Where are the bees?

Good morning everyone! It was a beautiful Monday and all of us were ready for new adventures at Ohana Buds class. Our teachers were quite excited to see us as we slowly came in with a nice smile on our faces.

Table Activities

We started our day with fun table activities such as free painting, creative and imaginative play with kinetic sand, matching colors and shapes with puzzles, cars on the  floor and Big Duplo all over.

Free painting with Goh-san

Our beloved Goh-san who has been very patient and helpful since we started at Ohana. Her positive energy gave more freedom to create wonderful paintings using paintbrushes and blobs of paint. We used blue and black color as we spread the paint on the paper. It was great to see how we were getting so engaged and just enjoyed the whole sensory process. In the end, we were able to understand the importance of learning its texture and color mixing. Thank you, Goh san!

Imaginative Play with our kinetic sand

Thanks to our wonderful kinetic sand! We were able to create pancakes, pizza and cake. We had some wooden knives and, whisks, and spoon. Our creative minds just enjoyed making and experimenting with the sand as we tried to create our very own recipe for our pretend food. Of course, sharing is always part of our core values. We are all learning by interacting and resolving conflict every now and then. It was fun seeing them play together and how the socialization happens in our classroom.

Matching tiles and puzzles

The third table was busy with matching tiles and puzzles. We always want to compare and see if they fit together. It was a lot of tiles so our teachers had to break it down and put less tiles so it’s easier for all of us to see. In the end, we almost completed the whole puzzles and with our teachers’ guidance, we’re able to succeed!

Floor Activities

There were some cars and big Duplo blocks of Ampanman on the floor. We tried to build houses and a playground but we needed more assistance from our teachers. So, Erika was there to help us out and she also created a special place for us to use the cars. Also, there were some diggers and bulldozers that Tamara brought from their home. Some of our friends also used these with kinetic sand and it was so much fun and interesting.

Circle time

Today, we talked about the bees. First, we made a big buzzing and sound. John told us to make that sound with him. As we did that, we started singing the Two Little Butterfly song. It was great to see that our fingers are starting to move and create different shapes as we sang the song. Fingerplays are always good practice with our fine motor skills.

Next, we learned a new song called, “Where is the beehive?”. We had a special action with fingers again and we tried to copy how to do it from our teachers. We will be sending the link of the song later on this week.

There was also a beehive toy that John got from Flowers class. This special beehive had some holes in it and we tried to look into it and there we found some creatures inside. And guess what they were….the bees!

The bees got special numbers written on their bodies. We noticed that the beehive’s holes have some numbers written above. So we counted the bees and there were ten, we counted the holes and there were also ten. We matched and figured out the numbers. Hence, we put the bees back inside the beehive to make more honey. John said that he will bring honey on Thursday so that we’ll know how it tastes like.

We also had some books out and today, we were also like scientists because we tried to find and investigate some bees from the book. And eureka! We found lots of them.

We also did some crumpled newspaper bees for our carnival project. It was really nice to see how interested we were with this project.

Park time

We went to the green area and played with the balls and Erika played the ukulele for us. It was a warm beautiful day. Thank you Ohana and see you all again tomorrow.

Lots of love,

All the children from Buds class 2021
