The Shape of Love

Fun Free Play Time

“Good morning!” Today we had Lego blocks at the back of the classroom. On the table, there was a color sorting activity. We enjoyed it and some of us spent a long time playing with it. The Petals garden was open today! Kai invited us to play. We are so grateful for our beautiful garden. It was a great feeling that we could play outside and feel the fresh air! After we packed away, we all sat down together and Sayaka explained what we will do today. Then after that she talked about fire and earthquake safety. H said that we need to cover our mouth. S said that we should go under the table. It didn’t take a long time to find out why she mentioned it. We had the monthly fire drill and we did a great job! It’s always great to know about safety steps in the case of an emergency. Oh, you know what? Sayaka had great news for us. She told us that there will be no more oni coming to school. We were such brave children yesterday, so oni is very scared of us now. Our little Petals are especially so happy with the news. H and R said, “No more oni!” and they had a nice smile on their faces.

Sharing About Something/Someone We Love

We wonder if our family knows about the shape of love. Sayaka asked us about our ideas about the shape of love. We also shared our ideas about love….something we really love or someone really love.

Sayaka: Do you have someone- or something- that you really love? Me, I really, really, really love spicy food to eat!

S: I have something that I really, really love! Sayaka, I like my boats and my Hot Wheels.

Sayaka: Why do you think you love them?

S: Because they’re super fast!

Sayaka: Can I see the shape of your love?

S: Like raindrops!

Sayaka: How about A? Do you have something you love?

A: Daddy and Mama! (He stretched out his arms to show how much he loves his Daddy and Mama)

Y: Daddy and Mommy and S

Sayaka: May I ask why?

Y: They’re sweet

A: I love Daddy. Because- I love Daddy!

H: Papa and Mama and T.

L: I love my Daddy and Mommy

D: Papa

R: Mama and Papa. K and K- chan.

Rhys: Daddy. Because he’s really nice. I play with Daddy.

S: Papa and Mama. And M- chan.

Z: I love my toys. I have so much toys! There is some food I like to eat. I love noodles.

A: Mama and Daddy. I like hug.

H: I love my daddy and mommy. I also love my trains.

Pauline shared who and what she loves. She loves her family and food! Kai said that he loves his family and snowboarding. He added that he loves going to Hakuba because it’s a nice place for snowboarding. Sayaka was wondering what the shape of love is. She used the pink origami paper and cut out a heart. She said that the heart is her idea of love. Like S said his shape of love is a raindrop, we had some different ideas. “It’s a circle!” One of us said, “How about a square?” the other suggested. Sayaka said, it can be any shapes if you think it’s love and you like the shape. She just mentioned that we might see lots of hearts because Valentine’s Day is coming up soon..

“Oh sorry! It took a bit longer!” Sayaka said to us. It’s time to head to the park. We had a shorter park time but it was fun.

We had the story time with Sayaka during circle time. We liked it because it’s a nice and cute story. GUESS HOW MUCH I LOVE YOU BY Sam McBratney illustrated by Anita Jeram. While she was reading the book, Z showed how much she loves her family like the Nutbrown Hare in the book. She said, “I love my family this much!” as she stretched out her arm.

Thank you very much for today and see you all tomorrow.

Love,

Happy Petals 2020-2021
