The Leaf Figures
Good morning, everyone! Hope you all had a lovely weekend together with the family. It was great to be back and have another fun time with everybody in the class. Today, we would also like to welcome our new friend, E. It was a fantastic first day for her and we’re excited to get to know her more as we have this journey with our friends and teachers. Welcome to Buds class, El
Table Activities
On one table, we’ve got the mini puzzles on three sets. We did a lot of investigation, trying to connect the right colors, corners, and sides. Eventually, we were able to sort them out and we all celebrated our success. We’re getting so much better at this.
Floor Activities
There were even some big puzzles, some scarves and big Lego blocks. We sat down with Liezel and our friends. Gradually, we created and built something out of these toys. The hug jigsaw puzzles were quite popular, and we enjoyed putting them together until we had completed the whole set. We also had some books that we took out from the library. We love The Baby Animal Book. This book had some very textured pages and loved touching and feeling them. We were constantly amazed by the different sensory experiences presented to us and we genuinely appreciate the learning opportunities that we have each day.
Circle time
For our circle time, we started dancing with our friends with our warm-up exercises song. We moved around the classroom, jumped as much as we could, and clapped our hands together. We also sang “Head, shoulders, knees and toes”. Our favorite song, “Baby Shark,” was the most requested song for today and we sang and danced to it as many times as we could.
After our fantastic singing and dancing time, we sat down and got ready for an activity. John took out the tub of leaves that we collected with friends last week. We then sat down and John picked up four leaves and put them together. He then told us that he had just made a big butterfly and floated around the room, then above our heads. Everybody was so immersed that they felt there was a real butterfly in the classroom. Then we tried it out with some of our friends as they had other ideas that they could show us today. Here are their thoughts:
Teacher: What did you make with the leaves?
S: I made a fish.
Re: Crab!
Hu: Wok! (sounded like it)
Ce: Butterfly too!
Th: Here is a butterfly!
Jn: This is a house!
K: What’s that?
We all stood up and danced together with our created figures with the leaves. It’s always essential to use our imagination as we develop our brains in so many ways. John sprinkled all the leaves and they fell like snowflakes on the floor. We just loved this moment! After our circle time, we cleaned up the leaves and washed our hands to prepare for our snacks.
Park Time
After our snack time, we went to the park and played in the green area. We loved climbing on the green net and wrestling with our friends. We also noticed that some of our friends loved to take off their shoes and socks because they just wanted to feel the ticklish artificial grass with some sand in it. Outdoor play is always what we look forward to and we couldn’t wait for another day outside again. Our friends requested if we could go to the pond tomorrow. Absolutely!
Lots of love,
All the children from Buds class
