About Our Families

Morning Play:
We all got ready for park time early this morning, but when we were about to leave, one of our Flower’s friend T said,” I felt the rain in my hand!” so we checked the weather outside and we saw a big rain cloud coming our way! Some of our friends said that if we go out in the rain then we will get wet. We all decided not to go out to play at the park. We were all bummed we couldn’t go, but after a few minutes the sky started pouring down rain. Staying inside was definitely the right choice! Since we couldn’t go to the park we suggested some games that we could play together. First we played Simon says. We all had to use our listening ears to listen to what Simon says, it was so much fun for us because we all knew exactly what to do. Our friends really enjoyed the game, so much that we asked our teachers to play it a few more times. C and A suggested another game which was freeze tag combined with dodge the hot ball. The rules of the game were simple, if the ball touched you, you had to freeze in place and wait for our friends to save us by crawling inbetween our legs. If our friends saved us we could get back into the game and dodge the ball again!

Maryna came down from the office in her pretty Ballet Tutu! We were so excited to have our ballet class again. Maryna started by showing us how to greet each other with a Ballet bow. In order to get warmed up we did a quick song that guided us through a set of stretching. We then learned about position two in ballet, where we stand with our feet shoulder width apart. Then we learned about position six which was were we stood with our feet neatly together. We jump from two to six, then six to two, and repeat. We had to be careful not to make any noise when we landed. We then did a few more stretching activities, but this time they were very intense. We tried all sorts of uncomfortable positions such as the splits, but they are all important stretches for ballet. We finished up our special ballet session with Maryna with a fun song about traveling. We moved around in a circle facing sideways then the song would tell us how we can go on an adventure. Like getting on the pogo stick and hopping around the classroom. We all had great fun and even though it was K’s first ballet class, she had a great time joining us and loved having her with us!

Liezel read us some of our friend's Lifebooks, we understand that some of us have big families and some small. Some of our friends have pets and helpers too and they are all part of the family. We discussed the things that we like to do at home and the things that we like to eat with our family. We also thought of the things that we can do to help our Mommy and Daddy together, it was amazing to hear what our friends do at home and how they learn to be responsible.
