Sports Week at Ohana
What a lovely Monday! Our friends were so thrilled to be back in Buds class after a fun weekend with the family. We started our day with some art activities that we have on the table. We also felt that we have some fun things to do for this week because our teachers were so psyched to prepare the sports activities we have in our classroom.
It’s also a sunny day today, we had a chance to go outside because it has been raining last week and we missed going out to have fun with our friends and teachers.
The table was filled with paints of green, blue and white. Our teachers told us that we’re making a sports field. We had a great color combination. It was really nice to see how we could explore with these art materials and how our hands can work with them. We were very explorative in terms of touching and feeling the material. It is actually something that we truly value here at Ohana. The way we get so creative with our learning and how it builds up our confidence to understand.
The other table was busy with play dough. We enjoyed making little figures of snake, snail and some pancakes that we offered to our teachers. It was nice to see how our hands are becoming more developed and able to create more complex sculptures with our friends.
Tsurumi-sensei came to our class and we know what this means...it is gym class! We love gym class because it’s also the time to move our bodies and explore what we could do. Tsurumi-sensei is always kind to help accomplish some simple workout routines and we really adore his patience and care when we do some challenging workout routines.
After our amazing gym class, we went out for a walk just to see our neighborhood. The day was quite humid but the weather was just so beautiful. It was a bit of a walk but also an adventure. When we went back to school, we were delighted to see the basketball. This week, we will talk about the different sports that we could do in the Olympics. One of the sports that we focused on was basketball. We learned how to dribble the ball and pass it to our friends. The ball was a bit soft and running out of air so John will find a way to fix it next time we want to play with it. Dribbling the ball consistently was a bit tough but passing it was no problem at all because our Tsurumi sensei already taught us how to do it. It has been a part of our workout routine. Finally, we read Spot goes to the park. It was a story about a dog who lost his ball and his friends helped him to bring it back to him.
Thank you so much Ohana for another wonderful day and see you all again tomorrow.
Lots of love,
