Welcome back to Buds Class!
It was such a wonderful moment to see Buds friends’ faces today after spring break.
We missed singing, dancing, doing Circle Time, eating snacks and lunch together.
Of course, we really missed playing and sharing our happiness with each other.
<Playing with Pegs>
There were some pegs and cut-out transportations and fruits on the table. Friends picked their favourite shapes from the table and tried to put pegs as much as they could. This activity led friends to develop not only fine motor skills (pinching) but also, counting and identifying the colours. Yet, it was still challenging for some of our friends, so teachers were at there all the time to guide them on how to open the peg by using thumb and pointer fingers. After, they mastered how to open the peg, they put the pegs to the shapes by themselves and showed them to the teachers with smile.
<Making Playdough>
The playdough we made and used before is now hard after a long time of not using it. So, our teachers decided to make a new playdough today. One of the teachers asked our friends if they would like to make a playdough and many friends said yes and gathered at the art table. First, the teacher and friends poured 2 cups of flour and 1 cup of salt into a bowl. Then, the teacher added 2 table spoons of cream of tartar. After that, friends used a spoon to mixed the all the ingredients nicely. While mixing the ingredients, the teacher and friends counted from 1-10 and after 10, the friend passed the spoon and the bowl to next friend nicely. When we mixed the all ingredients, the teacher poured 1 cup of water and food colouring (we used green this time), and kneaded it with hands. It was very fun to knead it even though it was very sticky first but, as much as we kneaded it, it became less sticky and turned it a great playdough. Well done, everyone! We are sure we are going to play with the playdough tomorrow.
<Transportation>
There were a lot of vehicles such as, car, bus and airplane and the road map on the play area. Friends pretended to drive their favourite cars on the road map from Tokyo and Osaka, as well as an airplane to Okinawa. They also sang “Wheels on the Bus” with Ukulele while playing with school bus.
<Music Time>
After cleaning up all the toys, all friends and teachers gathered at the carpet area for to have a music time with John. First, he played exercising song which our friends were enjoy jumping and stretching their whole bodies. Next, he played Shake Your Sillies Out. In this time, instead of shaking their bodies, when John said, “Stop” they needed to stop and stayed on their mats so that they had to pay attention to the music while dancing around the classroom. In the last, John played their all the time favourite song, “Morning song” and introduced their names to friends. After the music time, John read a book called, “The Very Busy Spider” by Eric Carl and figured out why the spider was busy and identified the name animals which the spider met during busy time.
<Counting exercise>
John also prepared some counting practice after another free play time with Legos. All the friends stood on their mats, then sang the counting song with fingers. Then, John brought a counting book and counted how many strawberries, bananas, and pencils were on the book.
Have a wonderful day!
Love,
Buds Class Children
