A Special day with Shelley!

Morning Activities and Free Play:

We did some painting today on one of the tables, we are wondering why we can smell something on the paint that we were using. Liezel said she put something inside each paint, and she asked us to guess what it was. We had yellow paint with turmeric, white paint with shredded coconut and brown paint with cinnamon on it. A said, “I smell something like bread!” Y said, “I think I smell chocolate on the paint too!”. We all liked the smell of each paint and the texture of it and spent lots of time painting.

On the other table we saw eight small containers, each of them with it’s own number, we thought it was something we can smell. We are not sure what was inside it, K and U opened each jar and tried to smell, U said, “I like the chocolate”. While K said,” I like the number 5 “. M showed a funny face when he smelled the vinegar, he did not like the smell at all.

Some of our friends made their own bracelet using the beads and pipe cleaners, it was good to practice more of our fine motor skills doing some threading. We love what we made and wanted to take it home to show our Mommy and Daddy. In the morning, we also played with the memory game and read some books. To complete our morning jobs, we answered our Question of the day, we learned to read it together and think before we put our names.

While we are busy cleaning up our toys, we heard something like an alarm, Nimo announced “There’s a fire!”. When we heard that we quickly covered our mouth and nose, went down together smoothly. When we came back in the classroom we talked about the safety rules.

Vieda: What does Drill mean?

K: Real Fire.

R: Fire.

A: It is practice fire.

A: Pretend fire.

V: What do we have when there is fire?

Y: Red like lava.

U: Hot heat and red and it can burn yourself.

K: Drill is to practice.

A: Wear a helmet.

V: When there is fire, it is hot and can burn your skin and you’ll see flames and “S”.

C: Smoke.

V: What we do when there is a real fire, is to cover our nose and mouth with one hand and lower our body.

K: Because we cannot see.

K: Maybe when there is smoke, you need flashlight and yellow helmet.

U: You need to hide in a safe spot. A place where the smoke does not come.

V: When you hear the alarm, stop what you are doing, listen to the teacher and cover your mouth and nose.

U: Because if the hot heat comes inside your body, your heart will idea and you will get burn in your body.

A: If the smoke gets in your body, and there is more you will die.

K: One time when I do fireworks, I held it, I smell the smoke and it’s ouchy..

Vieda: When do we wear helmet?

U: One time in my japanese school, I wear gray hat.

Y: When we do fire drill, we don’t wear hat, but when we do earthquake drill we wear hat.

K: When there’s an emergency we go to Nanzan.

A: In my house when there’s fire, we have to go to the fire steps.

Vieda: What did Nimo say?

C: It’s fire let’s go out!

Vieda: Our brain helped us to think and remember things.

Music Class:

After our snack time John came to our class to teach us some music, we get excited to see John with his Ukulele. We were divided in two groups of seven friends. While the first group are doing the music class with John the other friends were having a story time with Liezel.

We first sang our good morning song to greet everyone. We learned about the music scale and the music beats we sing ta, ta, for two beats and ta for one beat. We enjoyed dancing to the song that John played with for us, it was like freeze dance, where we have to stop and freeze.

Vieda told us that starting from today, on a Wednesday we will each have a turn to have special lunch with Shelley at the office. As much as we wanted to go together, unfortunately there is not enough space for everyone at the office. Today, A and Y had their turn to eat with Shelley, we can’t wait to have our turn. Another special thing for us today was Shelley went down to our class this afternoon to try an experiment with us, it didn’t work the first time so we will try to do it again this Friday.

We had a wonderful Wednesday and we are already excited for Thrilling Thursday!

Love,

Flowers
