Creepy Crawlies Everywhere
“Knock, knock, trick or treat,
Who are you?
I’m a witch, a very scary witch.”
Spider Stamping
At the table, there were sheets of orange paper, black paint and some toilet rolls. What are we making today? The toilet rolls were cut up with legs sticking out and as we dipped one in to the paint, and stamped it on a piece of paper, it made funny patterns. A who was wearing his Marvel T-shirt delightedly said, “Spidermin (Spiderman)!” Some friends were a bit weary of the color and the spooky marks it made—you can see it in our faces!
BIG and small LEGO blocks
LEGO blocks are one of our favorite toys , especially when they are BIG because we can be creative and BIG too! The small pieces are also very popular—running our LEGO cars over the kitchen set and around the diaper baskets...Vroom vroom! Here we go!
Threading
Threading is such a brilliant way to practice our fine motor skills. With the help of Erika, S sat for a long time carefully pulling the string through the plastic shapes while U sang, danced and threaded next to her.
Sharing
We all seem to like the kitchen sink and our dog friend, Chop-Chop. If “I” want to use it and “she” and “he” all at the same time, what shall we do? Do we start a tug of war? No, we have to learn to share. Goh-san kindly guided us how to take turns and to learn the virtue of “waiting” — one of the challenging things for us all.
Balls and Bean Bags
Instead of going to the park and we played with balls and bean bags while we sang some of our favorite songs like Wheels on the Bus, Baa Baa Black Sheep and Baby Shark :)
Circle Time
Nanako took out a white board with a picture of a house. When we knocked on the door, guess who came out? As we sang Knock, Knock, Trick or Treat, we met Mr. Bat, Mrs. Mummy, Mr. Jack O’Lantern, Mr. Ghost and Mrs. Witch. Mrs. Witch was so hungry that she flew above us and tried to eat us up! Of course she was just kidding and in fact, she shared what she was cooking in her pot…We tried to dig our hands in to see what was inside...Erika thought there were real worms inside! Can you guess what’s inside?
We found a cockroach, centipede, stag beetle, snake, frog, dragonfly and many more creepy crawlies!!! Some of us couldn’t stand to put our hands inside and others loved digging out more and more!
For story we read a story called Big Pumpkin by Erica Silverman and S.D. Schindler. It was about a witch who planted a seed and grew it to become a huge pumpkin so she can bake her famous pumpkin pie. On the harvesting day, she pulled and pulled but could not pull it out. The ghost came to help but couldn’t pull it out, nor could Dracula nor Mummy. Then came a bat who offered to help to which every one else laughed but the bat was clever and suggested that it would only work if everyone help together. So they pulled and pulled...and pop went the pumpkin! They all enjoyed the pumpkin pie and the witch planted another pumpkin seed for the following year….
Since we will not be seeing each other during the Fall Break, we sang our Goodbye song and when we come back to school, we will be having our Halloween Party!
Have a wonderful Fall Break!
Lots of love,
All the children from Buds Class
