Heavy the Dinosaur
What a fabulous day again today! We’re able to go out to the park and played around the green area. The ground was still damp from the heavy rain yesterday but most of the park equipment were available to explore. We did spend a long time playing and running with our friends and headed back to school for a special circle time.
We practiced some of our Winter Holiday songs such as Jingle bells, Santa Claus is coming to town and This little light of mine. We had so much fun dancing and prancing to the music as we are nearing towards our holiday party! We can’t wait to see you all on our special event.
We’ve been working on our dinosaur process for quite a while but still we didn’t give it a name of its own. It’s very interesting that we just kept on calling it a special dinosaur but actually he’s got more character than that. At first, we didn’t know what to give him so we decided to assemble it as much as we could. We started with the neck and connected it to the body. Then, we put the legs on but our friends said that we’re missing the claws. The dinosaur became so tall and at the very top we’ve missed putting the head. The day got so interesting because John pretended that he was a show host of a game show so we played a game called, “Name that dinosaur”. The game went something like this;
J: We are going to give a name for our dinosaur! Is that ok?
R: Dinosaur
S: Head
J: How about Buds dinosaur?
What does our dinosaur eat?
Z: Pasta, chicken and peas...also chips.
S: Pizza
Z: Grapes and orange
John: Where does he live?
Z: Park
John: What can he do?
S: He can swing
E: Play
S: Eating lunch
Ra: Think
What is the dinosaur’s name?
Ri: Heavy!
There you have it! Our dinosaur’s name now is Heavy...Heavy the dinosaur. Our dinosaur sure looks like he’s very heavy!
Morning activities:
Erika did a Christmas light painting with the children. They dabbed their fingers in the paint tray and they slowly made dotted patterns on the strip of paper given to them.
We also made some pine tree leaves using our hands by stamping them all over the special canvas. Later on, we will cut them into little strips similar to the leaves.
We also continued making our egg bubble wrap paint. It was really cool to see the patterns and design we’ve created today with our artwork.
Taking care of our books
One thing that we really need to focus on in our class is to look after our books. It’s a big deal in our class to take care of our belongings. We saw some books being ripped apart and it’s really not so good to see if they get hurt as well. Therefore, it is something that we talked about and our teachers told us that books have feelings too. If they get broken, they also cry, if we step on them, they also get hurt. We need to use our gentle hands as much as possible because it is important to show the books our love and care as well.
Thank you so much again Ohana and have a great day!
Lots of love,
Buds class children
