Party Prep and the Iconic Kadomatsu

Two more days until our party.

We had a wonderful day today. We were busy being actresses and actors for our winter party movie premiere. We also enjoyed dancing practice as well. You can take a peek what we did today!

Morning Fun

Goooood morning! We greeted to each other. Our friends were huddled around playing a game of Zingo! We played it with Pauline and took turns being the dealer. We also had some toy trains on the big carpet. Some friends were getting ready for their performance by putting on their costumes and pretending they were princesses, a police officers, and fire fighters.

Circle Time

While we were waiting for everyone to get ready for circle time, we played short game called a copy cat and loved it. The rule are very simple. We just need to imitate Sayaka’s action. Sounds easy, but Sayaka was so silly as we followed her lead, which was great because we got to be very silly too, hehe! As soon as everyone came to big car-pet for circle time, Sayaka introduced us to the Japanese new year. She told us that there is a special new year’s feast called Osechi. There is a traditional custom that adults give money to children in their families. Today we learned about “Kadomastu”. It is one of most traditional new year decorations. She said that we might find it sitting in front of someone’s house. It is made from pine tree, bamboo, and plum flower (Ume no hana). It is said that Kadamatu help Toshigami-sama( the god) to find a house without getting lost. The Toshigami-sama is believed as the god who brings happiness to family every year. The bamboo symbolizes strength and growth. Pine tree is known as one of plants that keeps it’s leaves for a long time hence representing powerful strength, and the plum flower always blooms in the winter season. It means that the flower is also very strong.

We couldn’t go to park because we had so many preparations for winter party. But we really enjoyed staying inside. We really hope you’ll enjoy our winter party! We definitely will, we are all already excited and can’t wait!
