The color of our skin

Good morning everyone! Even though the weather was quite rainy today, this didn’t stop us to have fun in the classroom. It was a nice day with our morning activities as we explored more of what we could do with our little hands.

Making a volcano

There was a tray, bottle and some newspaper on the table. Our teachers asked us to use our paint brush with glue and some water that we could actually damp the newspaper with. It was really nice to have this activity because our teachers really needed our help to make our volcano for our museum activity.

Continuation of dinosaur bones with cotton buds

Some of us continued with the dinosaur bones with the Q-tips from yesterday. We have been collecting these pieces of art to include in our special museum that we would like to show our parents.

Christmas decoration—snowflake popsicle sticks

Chiaki was very kind to help us with our Christmas décor-making. We started slowly with our snowflake art using the popsicle sticks and some glitters on the snowflake. They chose their favorite colors and made amazing design on them.

People figurines and cars

On the carpet area, there were people figurines and some cars that we played with. We had so much fun by interacting and making our time worthwhile with one another.

Maryna’s ballet class

Maryna also came to our class and today was our ballet lesson. We enjoyed moving our hands and feet together with our pretty resident ballerina and she was kind and patient enough to teach different songs for ballet.

Circle time activity

What’s the color of our skin? This is the main question that we received from our teachers today. Yesterday, we put the skin on our dinosaur and of course, we have to learn about our skin too. We were asked to touch our skin from our arms, hands and cheeks. It was so soft and our skin differs from one another. First, we tried to figure out what colors they were and some of our friends said that the colors were red, yellow, green, gray, orange and black. We also tried to understand how different we are from each other. So, our teachers asked us to get a colored Lego block and gave it to our friend who we think has the same skin color. Each of us received a color that represented us and it is very interesting to see how children view themselves and others.

Obstacle course with different dinosaur actions

After our circle time, we also had a small obstacle course in the classroom. We had some tunnels, cushion slides and ladder, some yoga mats and a table. We did it like dinosaurs—crawling, climbing and stomping.

Thank you so much Ohana for another beautiful day and see you all again tomorrow. By the way, we would like to greet our friends from America, HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Lots of love,

Buds Class
