The day after...

November 1st, 2019

We had so much fun yesterday at the party showing all of our friends at school our amazing costumes! We had so many fun activities to do and to top everything off our friends all brought us delicious treats for us to take home! Some of us even went out at night and ventured the streets decorated in Halloween spirits! After such a busy day we hope everyone was able to get a good night’s rest. Our friends sure seemed like they did as they all cheerfully entered the classroom full of energy.

Our teachers kept most of the Halloween decorations and activities out for one more day they say, before we start decorating for our next big Holiday. We’re glad we could enjoy Halloween for one more day, especially the “Feed The Pumpkin” game! All of friends really enjoyed it, but the pumpkins weren’t very stable and would fall over when we lightly bumped in-to them. Our teachers would help us put it up, but after many more times of knocking it over our teachers asked us to put it up by ourselves. We accepted the challenge and thus we all worked together as best as we could to stand the pumpkins up again. We probably had the most fun experimenting, exploring and trying to stand the thing up.

After we packed away our toys, we sang a few songs before our snack time. One of the songs was a song about what we saw yesterday on Halloween Day. Our friends were very observant and saw all kinds of spooky things hiding in Azabu. We then had our snacks and then got our smocks on for the park. While we waited for everyone to get ready we had Nimo read us a story called “A Girl and Her Gator” by Sean Bryan. After the story we got together in a circle for our circle time. We started by singing and dancing a little bit, then it was time to put our sillies away and use our listening ears.

Our friends found a few books that were damaged and they showed them to the teachers. In the morning a teacher asked us to pick up the books on the floor because that could ruin the books. For our circle time Nimo make a fake book with scrap paper and showed us why we don’t want to leave the books on the floor. He walked on the fake book and it easily ripped. Nimo also showed us what happens when we don’t use our gentle hands and pull on the pages too hard when turning the page. Without Nimo’s gentle hands, the scrap pa-per book was completely ruined. A few of our friends volunteered to fix it and we did the best we could, but we learned that after the book is broken or the pages are torn, we can’t completely fix it. That’s why our teachers remind us to be careful with our books and treat them with care.

We promised our teachers that we would take care of our books and we practiced using our gentle hands turning the pages of the book. After practicing a few times together we headed to park to play. We all had our way of having fun with our friends and maybe because we haven't been to the park together in so long, everyone was super excited. They were so excited that we did a short meditation session back at school before our lunch time.

Hope everyone doesn’t eat too much candy this weekend and remembers to brush their teeth so we can see our happy Petals friends again next week! Have a great weekend!

Love,

Petals
