CIRCLE TIME
We reviewed what we learned last Friday during one of our career month presentations.
T: Google can make a movie!
We couldn’t help but laugh again when we thought about the video we made last week. Let’s keep the conversation about AI and computers going this week!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
A & M: Do you have Alexa?
Only a few friends said yes, and many others didn’t know what Alexa is.
T: They have a circle and it’s round and they can speak and you can choose a language or whatever you want.
Y: Alexa is a robot and you need questions for it. You ask, “What’s the weather?” They will say, “It’s sunny. Today high of 20 and low of 15.
We tried to think a bit more about how computers like Alexa know so many things.
M: Google is a computer and they know. They are from iPad.
We wondered what kind of things humans can do that computers can’t. We asked Google a lot of math questions on Friday, but they were all addition questions.
M: I don’t think Google knows times.
M: 3×1=3, 3×2=6, 3×3=9, 3×4=12, 3×5= …
M: 3×5=15.
A: Computers cannot move, computers cannot give stuff to anyone, computers cannot cook.
T: Computers can do snowboarding or surfing.
We looked at Flowers class’s iPad to see if we could find something else. We saw in photos that there were pictures of people. Many children in our class. When we tapped the face, it showed us every picture of that person that was on the iPad. We wondered who did it…
T: The teachers do it.
M: Shelley?
Y: The iPad?
A: N?
M: V? C?
Y is right! The iPad recognizes the face of each person and automatically puts them together so it’s easy to find. What are some other ways that AI or computer impact our lives?
Have a wonderful evening! See you tomorrow!
Love,
Flowers Class XOXO
