Week two is all about weaving!
Our Friends A and M from the Buds Class joined the Petals Class!
We started our morning playing with the kitchen toys while we waited to sit down at the craft table. Our teachers prepared cardboard rectangles with some cuts on the edges. We chose either the red or brown yarn, then wrapped it around the cardboard, and tried fitting the yarn into the slits. After our crafts, our teachers prepared a fun threading activity for us. On a big piece of cardboard, our teachers added rows of yarn and we used the strips of colored paper and weaved them onto the board!
We packed away our toys then played at Step Park! We had a great time running and sliding! When we got back, we did our morning routines. Our Music Assistants helped play the good morning song and our Class Counter R check to see how many we had in Petals today! We did a quick review about what we learned about last week and our teachers introduced us to this week’s topic, weaving.
Before we did another weaving activity, we talked a little bit about shapes.
Nimo: What shapes do you see?
K: Circle, Triangle!
T: Square.
Nimo: What shape did we wrap yarn around this morning?
R: Rectangle.
Nimo showed us a few pictures and we pointed out some shapes we saw.
R: Triangle!
N: Do you know how to say Triangle in Japanese?
K: Toraianguru.
K: Sankaku.
R: I like sankaku.
T: (Pointed at the square) Paw Patrol!
S: Look Nimo, Square!
T: Look Lucy, Square!
Nimo: Who knows this shape? (Vinyl)
R: Circle!
T: Dance Party!
On a hula hoop, our teachers wrapped yarn on it and our job was to tear strips of tissue paper and weave them into the yarn. It was a little tricky, but with a little bit of help from our teachers, we made a beautiful work of art! We will add something else tomorrow!
We finished up our day reading, “If You Give A Mouse A Cookie” by Laura Numeroff and Felicia Bond.
We had another fabulous day with A and M! Thank you for joining us today! Have a wonderful evening and we will see you all again tomorrow!
Love,
Petals
