We got the whole world in our hands…

Morning Art Activities:

At one table we finished up our dad’s day decorations and at another table we used yellow paint and rollers to paint a large piece of paper! We plan to make a frame for our lovely pictures our moms took with the Oni! We are going to add black stripes later to make the pattern of a tiger just like the Oni’s pants!

Circle time:

Our Music Assistants chose their instruments:

T: Chichambrine (Tambourine)

A: Drum!

L: Ukulele please

R: Shaker

L: Xylophone

After singing our good morning song Nimo showed us a small blue ball with some white on it and asked us what we thought it was.

S: Ball

T: Planet!

M: A planet

Nimo: Correct! Who knows the name of this planet?

E: Mercury! Red!

Nimo: The next planet in our solar system is called Venus. What color is it?

M: Orange and black.

Nimo: Then our third planet is…

M: Blue and white.

Nimo: This planet is where we live and it’s called Earth.

We sang “They Got The Whole World In Their Hands” as we held the small globe in our hands and we put our name in the song. “Nimo’s got the whole world in his hands, he’s got the whole world in his hands”. We passed the globe to the friend next to us and sang the song with their name in it!

After some singing, we quickly updated our calendar.

M: Wednesday, February 4!

Nimo: What did we do yesterday? Who came?

E: Shoma!

Nimo: Last time you came to Ohana was on Monday, and Shoma was here on Monday. On Tuesday we had someone special come in.

M: Oni!

L: No thank you Oni!

M: We throw mame at Oni.

R: Yes.

Nimo: What did we say?

M: Oni wa soto! Fuku wa uchi!

Nimo: Who else came? E’s mom, H’s mom, S’s mom, and?

L: T mommy! Oni, Momoka daddy.

A: Grrrr! Like this one!

We talked a little bit about Ehou Maki and shared if we ate them yesterday or not. Our teachers had some Ehou Maki for their lunch today so they showed us a real one!

For our circle time activity, we sang the 7 Continents songs then looked at a world map. International Months have started and we are going to learn about the other places on Earth. We started by finding Japan on the world map and looking at the flag.

E: Oh! A Map!

Nimo: Have you seen this before?

M: Yes

R: No.

Nimo: This is the map of Earth. This is the flag of where we live right now. What colors do you see?

E: White

K: Red!

Nimo: Shape?

A: Circle!

Nimo: This is the map of, J….J…

M: Germany?!

Nimo: Let’s ask Laura if this is the map of Germany.

Laura: No, that isn’t the map of Germany.

Nimo: One more time, J…Ja…

M: Japan!

Nimo: Bingo! Who lives in Japan?

T: Me!

Y: Me too!

Before we went to the park we read “Here We Are” by Oliver Jeffers. Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
