Happy Friday! We had lots of fun engaging with different materials this morning. On our sensory table, we were fascinated by how a magnet worked. We held the magnet over the pipe cleaners, and ta-da! It seemed magical to see pipe cleaners getting attached to the magnet! We enjoyed putting colorful beads through our spider activity, too! Some of our friends liked to say the color, “Red, blue, yellow!” as they put the beads through the pipe cleaners. Another table sparked our interest when we saw colorful macaroni pasta which helped us with our fine motor skills. You might wonder how? Guess what, we enjoyed pouring pasta from one cup to another. And we also liked just picking them up and transferring them to trays.
For story time, we enjoyed reading Can You Cuddle Like a Koala? By John Butler. Looking at a cover photo, Ka said, “Oh mouse!”. Yes, it did look like a mouse, but it was not. Most of us did not recognize that it was a koala. This story introduced us to animals such as mice, monkey, owl, frog, tiger and rabbit. Then, invited us to copy their movements. We had fun pretending to be like them by copying their actions! During our story time, some friends shared their thoughts with us:
Ri: Koala!
Ka: Monkey goes up and down! That’s a cat!
Li: Mama, cut! Lily black pants.
Yu: Grandma!
We love this book and tie up with what we have been talking about the things that we can do. Some of the action words that we heard from this book are a good addition to the words that we have right now. We danced Patty Shukla’s, I Can Do It to close our morning circle.
Have a wonderful fall break!
Lots of love,
Buds XOXO
