Toucans and Rainforests

Happy Monday! Welcome to week 4 of our summer school where we will explore rainforests. We are excited to meet the animals and plants that we can find in rainforests. Please join us as we unpack this week’s learning journey!

MORNING ACTIVITIES

We enjoyed cutting vegetables and cooking in our dramatic area. We tried several ways of “cutting” and “cooking” the food while putting them in different containers. It was a lot of fun. For table activities, we enjoyed putting pegs around pictures and ta-dah! We were surprised with what things we were able to make! For craft time, we made toucans. We cut a long piece of yellow paper and tried our best to cut along the lines, with some help from our teacher. This would be the long beak of our toucan. Our eyes lit up when we saw the piece that we had just cut. Then, we glued the eye and colorful feathers. We can’t wait to “meet” our toucans!

CIRCLE TIME

Our circle time kicked off with a new learning theme about rainforests. We sang the song, “Walking in the Jungle” and looked for the animals around the room. We carefully listened to the animal sound and quickly moved to find the corresponding animal. We cheered and said, “Yay” as we did high-fives with the animals. It was fun singing and finding the animals around the room. Then, we talked about the special bird we can find in rainforests. It’s called toucan. We learned that it does not fly much but rather likes to hop as it moves from tree to tree. It’s good to meet you, Toucan! We are looking forward to meeting other rainforest animals.

When it comes to checking who came to school today, we love identifying our names and putting them on the board. And guess what we enjoy doing after all the names have been put on the board? We love to count them and show the number using our fingers.

After a refreshing and fun water play, we had lunch time. Time just flew by quickly. We had fun playing, singing, chatting, and learning new things together. Thank you for another meaningful Monday!
