The Sun and Moon

Marvelous Monday! We welcomed a new friend to Petals Class today! His name is K and he is S’s little brother! We were excited to have him join us and it seemed K was feeling the same! We played with the Play Doh together, crafted on the junk table, or played with the Duplo blocks! For the next part of our canvas art, we chose a size for a cup that we would use to trace to make a planet! We used the white paint to make the outline, then chose a color of paint for our very own planet!

E helped update our calendar, then L and L played the tune for our good morning song. We did another review about our jobs then practiced singing the songs for our End of the Year party!

Before Shoma came, we did a quick review of the planets in our solar system then talked a little bit about the sun.

E: Rocket!

E: The first planet is Mercury.

M: Venus, then Earth.

K: Earth is blue and green.

L: Mars!

M: Jupiter

L: Uranus. Neptune!

T: Last is Neptune.

L: I want to go to Neptune. (Why?) I don’t know.

Nimo: What’s this big orange one?

M: It’s the sun! It’s very very hot. Don’t touch it.

Nimo: What happens when you touch something very hot?

E: You get ouchie.

Nimo: What do you think will happen if there is no more sun?

M: It will be cold.

Nimo: What colors do you see?

E: Orange.

T: I see blue

S: Orange

Y: Red

S: Yellow.

We decided to make our own little solar system in our classroom so we started with the sun. On a giant circle, we stuck yellow, red, and orange tissue paper on it!

We had a great time with Shoma then read a story, “Papa, Please Get The Moon For Me” by Eric Carle.

Thank you all for another fabulous day! Have a great evening and see you all again tomorrow!

Love,

Petals
