Happy Monday! We’re excited to begin another fun week in Flowers Class!
CIRCLE TIME
At the beginning of circle time, there were two dots drawn on the whiteboard. A drew a straight horizontal line connecting them and then we added some hash marks up and down the line. C added a number 5 to one of the hashes and we took turns adding the rest of the numbers 1-10
J: What about 0!
R: Before 0 it’s minus 1!
For now, we’ll just keep our scale from 0 to 10. C drew a happy face on 10 and R drew a sad face on 0 before we asked the question of the day!
QUESTION OF THE DAY
J: Do you know what so-so means?
S: Not happy but not sad.
R: So-so means that you want to cry but your don’t.
J: So-so means go to sleep when you are tired and then wake up and play by yourself.
Where should we put so-so on the scale?
S: In the middle! Number 5!
S drew a so-so face on 5 and our scale began to fill in!
As we tried to figure out what might be between 0 and 5, we focused on what it means to be sad. We had a bit of a debate about who cries when they are sad.
J: Only babies cry.
R. No! Even if you’re big, do you cry C?
C: Yes. Sometimes I cry.
J: But adults don’t cry!
S: Sometimes my mommy is sad.
C: My mom cries.
M: Sometimes my mommy cry.
J: But my mommy and daddy and brother don’t cry.
R: J, but your mom is crying when you’re sleeping maybe.
HOMEWORK
Tonight’s homework is to ask the adults in our house if they cry.
J: But I already know! They don’t cry.
C: Maybe they cry when you’re at Ohana. So you can ask again!
Let’s also keep thinking about our scale from sad to happy. Is there any feelings from 0-5 or 5-10? What about below 0 or above 10? Or maybe we need a different scale all together!
See you tomorrow! Have a wonderful evening!
Love,
