Thanksgiving in Petals Class

We sat down with Laura and talked about the things we were thankful for and wrote them on a feather to put on our “Thankful Turkey”! We sat at the other craft table and continued threading and beading with Esmi. Once we were all done with our crafts we joined Nimo and our friends and continued playing with the “Trapped Letters”. They wrapped a few more strands of yarn to make the game a little more difficult!

We packed away our toys a little earlier than usual because we had a lot to do today! We started with a story, “Please, Mr. Panda” by Steve Antony.

Nimo: Do you remember what month we are in?

Petals: November!

Nimo: In Japanese, November is, Jyuichigatsu.

Y: Jyuichigatsu!

E: Today is Christmas and Santa Claus coming?

Nimo: Not quite yet! It is Thanksgiving today! Before we talk about our Thankful Turkey, let’s read our story for the day, “Please Mr. Panda”

N: I like donuts.

M: Mommy give me donuts.

I: Mommy give me donuts too.

A: Daddy gives me donuts.

H: H mommy, yes.

E: Mommy said donuts can make.

I: Mommy order donuts.

Nimo: Which donut would you like?

M: This one! Pink!

Y: Blue please.

L: I like pink.

H: Yellow!

I: Pink!

A: I like this one, purple.

N: This, red!

H: Red!

E: I want the red one.

Nimo: “Give me the blue one!” Is that how we ask nicely?

L: No

Nimo: Do you know what animal this is?

M: Flamingo. Flamingo like pink!

I: This flamingo is white.

Y: No flamingo.

Nimo: This bird is called an Ostrich.

Petals Ostrich.

Nimo: What is this big animal?

N: A whale!

L: It’s a shark!

I: Orca.

L: How about Chinese name?

Nimo: I’m sorry, I don’t know how to say Orca in Chinese.

I: Bye-bye orca!

Nimo: This animal is called a Lemur.

H: Lemur!

After our story, we talked about how we should use, “Please” when we want something and “Thank you” after someone has helped us! We got our Thankful Turkey we made in the morning and read what our friends wrote on the feathers.

Nimo: Do you remember what this bird is called?

E: An owl.

M: A chicken.

Nimo: This is called a turkey!

Petals: Turkey.

Nimo: You wrote some of the things you are thankful for, let’s read them together!

I: (Thankful for) Mommy, buy me Dinosaur Egg!

A: Mommy and daddy take me to Disneyland. Mommy got me something in Disneyland.

M: Mommy, I love you!

L: Thank you to T. She cook!

Y: Thank you mommy, buy me My Melody.

S: Daddy (buys me toys)!

N: Mommy and N, thank you!

E: Mommy play with me.

H: Mommy make soup for H!

L: Mommy and Daddy play with me.

It was finally time to cook our soup! We were so excited and couldn’t wait to help! We peeled the skin off of the vegetables, then cut them into small pieces. We cooked them in a pan then put water, dashi, and miso paste inside! Our friends really liked cooking just as much as they did eating it!

Happy Thanksgiving! Have a wonderful evening and we will see you again tomorrow, thank you!
